they commented that fulmer's contract would take 6million to buy out his and then another 3 million for his assistants. 9 million to officially clean house!

I think any new head coach should keep Dave Clawson around. It isn't the offense. Players are wide open. Holes are there. Amazing how a shi*ty QB can make the whole offense look bad. Nature of the position.

[Insert profanity], its not like we won a national or even an SEC title. We had a 4-loss season. I wonder what you get for a 3-loss season, a key to the U.S. Mint?

If this is true, whoever was involved in those negotiations HAS to be fired (president, AD, etc.). Its not like Fulmer had any leverage. How do you give him that?

i guess the leverage is the length of time that he has been around. 13 years has gotta be the longest tenure in the SEC right now

it'll happen soon...they might be on the rise, but the youth will be exposed at some point

thanks, either way.....there are few coaches that have been around the SEC for more than 5-6 years

I'm sure students wouldn't have a problem with a small free on their tuition to raise enough money to fire fulmer

nothing is a for sure thing in college football today....cough cough ole miss.....everything can change from week to week. no one is guna run through the SEC undefeated this year or any year from now on for that matter. There's way to much talent around the south for any one team to dominate

Jimmy Hyams of SportsTalk has speculated that Fulmer would be willing to negotiate down the cost of his buyout....As much in denial as his post game remarks make him seem ("We're our own worst enemy"...."We had a 17-7 4th quarter lead against Florida two years ago......."We just have to work like heck to eliminate mistakes.") I think his legacy at Tennessee is more important to him than squeezing out as much money as he can. Once a new coach is in place and Tennessee gets some life back into the program we can look back at the years 1995-2001 with great appreciation and I think that is important to Phil and his family.....He needs a clean break for that to happen and that means taking 2 mill and calling it a career.

Alabama "might" lose to LSU in Baton Rouge. Other than that, I almost guarantee they win all the others.

I would keep the qb coach, wr coach, and rb coach move the TE coach to special teams, and get rid of everyone else

there's no way he breaks the ties with this university for 2 million...a couple years ago he donated a million to the university out of his own pocket. there's so much that goes into this that it's not about money anymore. either way, resignation or firing, it's not going to be pretty

why keep those coaches? qb coach, rb coach, and special teams have been the worst part of the offense

A night game in Baton Rouge against Alabama, for first place in the West, and maybe even the #1 ranking in the nation...I would love to be there for that one. I wish I could win the lottery so I can buy Fulmer's contract out (Could that be used for a tax deduction?).

possibly, it would be charitable donation...it may even relieve some of the anger and depression that has run rampant around here

How can you even begin to make that statement? Don't you think that the new coach is going to want to make that decision? If not, you aren't going to get anybody decent. See, for example, Al Davis.

I'd keep everyone who wanted to stay other than Chavis and Fulmer... maybe Slade.

A couple would probably quit on their own and especially if Chavis landed a job in the NFL or another school.

why keep those coaches? qb coach,
Speculation is that Clawson wanted to change QB's but CPF didn't. Either way, QB play has prevented us from seeing what Clawson's O can do.
rb coach,
The RB's have run well and played well except for AF's fumbles.
and special teams have been the worst part of the offense

I think CPF acts as his own Special Teams coach. The TE's coach was involved with ST's in the NFL.
