All Heisman winners....

Yet, Peyton Manning is not good enough? Really? "Well, it just matters who is in the running each year, you can't compare them!" This award is a joke. Weinke, White and Smith all went on to have wonderous careers as "The best player, period, in college football"...bullcrap.

Honestly, who cares, rarely do any Heisman winners ever amount to anything worth a crap at the next level.

For a VOL to win the Heisman their stats would need to be something like this for the season:

QB - 50 TD passes, 2 INT, 5000 yards passing
RB - 2500 yards rushing and 30 TD's

I fail to see why this is a "doubious" honor. It just shows that we don't have to have the "best" player to win our games. To me, that speaks volumes. Where would they be without their "winner"? Where would Florida have been without Tebow?

We win with the players that we have. Eleven on the field at a time. Our guys against yours. Lets see who has the heart, the grit, and the determination.

I got nothing to be ashamed of nor do the young men who wear (or have worn) the orange and white proudly.

Besides, the Heisman is a curse. The only decent picks in the last 20 years have been Eddie George and Desmond Howard. Charles Woodson has had a good career also, but I don't want to rile up anybody with that one. Most of the rest have been disappointments. Case is still out with Matt Leinart and the other most recent - although NO is doing well without Bush....

Ricky Williams and Carson Palmer are also pretty good.

Tim Tebow didn't beat anyone the year he won it.

True. But he had the advantage of being undefeated and not yet having the national media salivating over him and his heisman hype at the beginning of the year.

What do you mean undefeated? He's lost a game every single year he's been there. Additionally, the hype machine started with Tebow before he even took his first snap. Even during the 2006 UT game, Tim was getting a lot of talk for the first downs he was picking up. By the time he took his first snap as a starter, he was already up there at the pinnacle of media slurping. The slobbering was so extreme that his three regular season losses were totally overlooked.

The "heisman" is great and all, Happy for Ingram(seems like a level headed dude). But Its more and more media BS than anything else. SUH was the best football player on that stage and should have got the nod, but of course "Sir Charles" and ESPN ruined the notion of a defensive player ever winning it again........ Tebow getting invited over Spiller was a laugh as well....

We have gotten along just fine since 1891 without a Heisman winner. Personally, at this point, I would rather have all the success in the world for the next 118 years without one. It's pretty nice to be one of the most successful programs of all time without one.

It's a team sport.

A 60% completion percentage, 3819 yards, and 37 TD in the SEC just arent heisman numbers i guess

I can't agree.

The worst thing about college football is clearly the entire ACC.

:good!:

Damn....... You got me there.

I don't know where i got that truckload of fail from. For me the hype didn't become ridiculous till after he won the heisman.

So it should be awarded retroactively based on NFL success? I'm not following...

Bryce Brown would have to break a tackle. lol I think he played at 80% this year will be interesting to see how much he improves. They need to get him involved more in the passing game. That he does do well.

Also, I think Tennessee has the "dubious" honor of having the most 2nd place finishes(4-Manning, Shuler, Majors, Lauricella) without having a player actually win the "award".
