2K8 was a good game, and i played it off an on until last year. But it's just incredibly dated, to where it feels like playing Double Dribble.
If 2K made another NCAA game I'd buy it day one, but i just can't tolerate hearing people talk about the NBA, let alone buy a game based on it.
A college game using the current 2K engine would be amazing.
There are still some major legal hurdles to get through however, like someone VolinthaAtl referenced.
A BB game would face even bigger problems than EA is currently experiencing with their NCAA football games. Every year they change guys equipment and numbers on the game to avoid trouble. It's not that simple for basketball because guys faces are actually visible. I think it would be a tough sell to get people to throw down $60 for a game that is basically just a set if college uniforms and arenas but nothing resembling the actual players. Maybe once the lawsuit is settled they can figure out some way to pay the players a small licensing fee and take college sports video games to an even higher level of realism.
If they could make it anywhere near NBA 2K, with a my player mode where you play in McDonald's All-American Game, and pick your school at the end of the game with a presentation like they do their press conferences. Also add in the Dynasty mode, recruiting a lot more realistic, but user-friendly. And maybe some 2K moments, reliving some comebacks in College Basketball. It could be a great game

How awesome would it be to play a high school basketball season (like they do on EASports), play a couple high school tournaments, pick your school, go to college, then you can play with your guy on NBA 2k series? They mention all your stats and accomplishments, and all that. It'd be freaking awesome.
