Hate to be negative, but I won't be the least bit surprised to see the VOLS lose.

Superior coaching > modest advantage in talent

I'm going to really go out on a limb here... SC will probably get close to 400 yards of offense, mostly through the air and Spurrier will demonstrate continued mastery of Fulmer/Chavis. We will move the ball with reasonable success. Untimely turnovers and bad special teams will seal our fate and we'll lose in the second half as we don't make the proper adjustments.

If Smellie and Mitchell roll up big numbers through the air then we really should forfeit the rest of our ball games.

The Vols just don't turn the ball over that much. Check SC's stats, they've coughed up quite a few this season. Special teams has taken a 180 in improvement since the Arkansas State game. I don't quite see how they regress enough to seal the Vols fate. The game is in Neyland Stadium. The SC offense is probably the worst the Vols will have faced at the point in the season. Even with Spurrier (1-2 in last 3 games vs UT)... he's got to have the players that can run his system to be successful and since Wuerrfel is out of eligibility? Defensively, the SC is really good... but so is the Vols' offense. So far, the only thing stopping the Vols offense is themselves. I'm not going out on a limb and saying that the Vols WILL win, but I will say that they SHOULD win this game. The Vols being 3-point favorites is just about right.

Colin Cowturd is the only person on Earth I even could remotely consider evolving from a lower species...

Colin isn't far off on the 3rd down thing.

All he is pointing at is that ALL the good teams have a high 3rd down conversion percentage, not necessarily that all teams who convert well are good.

I think the third down thing is a lot more meaningful in the nfl where it is very difficult to get plays that go for 20+ yards.

Who freaking cares?? but really though it isn't like at this point anyone should be shocked if UT looses. I mean seriously its not like we're 14 point faves or something.
