Colin Cowherd - Brian Kelly and Tennessee (His Opinion - NO RUMOR)

Brian Kelly is a liar and a shat-filled scumbag. I would be the loudest Nega you've ever seen on this board. I'm friends with a player who he blatantly lied to when recruiting him. You think Butch is a red-faced blowhard? Kelly makes him look like Tony Dungy. No.Way.

I remember when Brian Kelly used to come to Florence for the D2 Championship with Grand Valley. Seemed unstoppable, with a super bright future. I always kinda pulled for him, even when he got the ND job, but man that Irish spotlight has highlighted his flaws in a BIG way. Not interested in having him at UT, honestly, b/c I'd think of him as pretty much "Butch 2.0: Angrier & Blinderer".

I'd be very disappointed if that happened. We want upgrades.

Didn't you start a thread a couple weeks ago saying you were done with VolNation? What happened? Apologies if I'm confusing you with someone else....thought it was you though.

If CBJ does in fact leave or get fired next year, which I would put at less than 25% then I would be willing to wager the coach that replaces him is not yet on our radar. The past shows us that it will be an up and coming mid level coach that can recruit not an established Power 5 coach that is still in his prime.

So you're saying we got a shot at Tony Dungy?

wow we all know that Kelly left Central Michigan and wen to Cincinnati When he left Central Michigan BUTCH took the head coaching job there When Kelly left Cincinnati to go to N D Butch took the job at Cincinnati That would be odd for Butch to leave Tennessee and Kelly replace him

But it would follow that if Kelly leaves ND then CBJ might be on his way to South Bend.

Not just no, but :censored: no. That would probably be the straw that would finally stop me from donating.

I concur!!!

This would be an awful hire, my in laws are huge ND fans so I watch most if not almost all their games.

He's not a good coach

Why does Colin Cowturd still have an opinion? He's the dumbest SOB ever.

Better question.. WHY DOES HE HAVE A SHOW ON NATIONAL TV? WHY?

On his show just now Colin was talking about Brian Kelly and him putting out feelers to the NFL and other schools about coaching there. He mentioned several times that if ND fired him that he'd find a place really fast. One of the places he mentioned was Tennessee, saying that in a year or so we may have an opening and that several other schools in the SEC may also have openings. No real story here, just thought it was interesting that he specifically mentioned UT above any other school that may have an opening and did so numerous times.

Can stand either of the guys mentioned here
Kelly is a total azz

Cowherd has his facts screwed up again. We're trying to interest ND to take our coach, not the reverse.

We should work out a trade--jones and DeBoard for Kelly ?
He did go 12-1 at Cincinnati left and jones went 4-8 the next year. I say it's an upgrade

I actually hate looking at the guy. A very punchable face.

He's also incredibly arrogant and his sideline mannerisms rival those of Muchamp's.

No thanks.

He's been super great this year and his actions (or inactions) led to multiple scandals and 2 deaths. The guy is scum

The new Chancellor most likely knows that -- not sure Cowherd even did any research on this to make such a stupid comment

Personally think this would be a slam dunk hire. Here's why:

1) I believe anyone can recruit better here than at ALMOST any other school. In other words take an above average recruiter (e.g. Butch jones) and he looks stellar here. Take a below average recruiter (e.g. Derek Dooley) and he'll still bring in top 20 classes. I don't believe this benefit exists at ND because in state recruiting is almost nonexistent.

2) Kelly is a superb football mind. That's just indisputable. He has one of the most distinctive schemes in college football. I believe it would be a mismatch for everyone in the east when coupled with strong recruiting classes.

3) he's a household name. I think he'd energize the fanbase. He has championship experience--one of the few coaches out there that would actually be in reach for us that understands the high pressure job.

4) sometimes it's about fit more than anything. Cuonzo Martin not necessarily a terrible coach but just not a fit at Tennessee. I believe butch is also just not a fit--he's not accountable and has cracked under the pressure. I believe Brian Kelly has been there and understands the expectations. Let's not forget, He built the programs Butch won with.

5) his record. 230Ā–88Ā–2..... not many head coaches with better records than that. Butch is 79-48. Les Miles 141-55. Saban 203-60-1. Jim Harbaugh 78-32. I mean seriously one thing BK does is win. Can't really argue with that.

He's actually at the top of my wish list and we'd be incredibly lucky to have him. Really could care less if he's had a down season at ND. That only means he's in reach for us while ND takes him for granted.

If you want a new coach, look for someone who has made a difference in a short time:

Paul Chryst, Wisconsin, Peterson, Washington, Fuentes, VT

Or someone who wins consistently in a tough conference:

Gundy, OK State, Dan Mullen Miss St, Whittingham, Utah

If you need OC:

Heupel has done wonders in one year at Mizzou. Oregon's Helfrich and OCs at TCU are other options.

Defensive Position Coaches: I would look to Ohio State staff, Wisconsin staff and Florida staff.

Offense and special teams: Elder and Pittman are sorely missed. It would be nice to have a QB coach like the other 13 SEC teams.
