Gee, how'd he trick all those players on the team who regularly said he was a leader in interviews? BJ will do fine. He was getting jerked around by a demonstrably immature coach who was arranging his existing quarterbacks to bring on his own man. BJ is smart enough to read the tea leaves. He could have used better judgement in his interview but the kid is 21.
It is pretty interesting to see how often BJ's supporters call Kiffin immature. They then point to the Meyer stuff which wasn't immature at all. He was prodding and toying the guy. Unlike Spurrier and even Fulmer, Meyer couldn't take it and proved what a total narcissist he really is.
Kiffin is supposedly immature but it was BJ, not Kiffin, that threw a tantrum when a couple of meetings got delayed. Big whoop. If he ever gets a job in the business world he'll have to get used to it. It was BJ that whined to the media because Kiffin wouldn't name him the starter at this point. It was BJ that went to MH and then quit in a huff because he couldn't get satisfaction from him either. It was BJ that thought whatever he had going on was more important than anything the HC could have going on.
BJ appears to be a great kid in general but it is HIS IMMATURITY, not Kiffin's, that caused him to quit.
You want a comparison? Look no further than Crompton. He was more highly regarded than Ainge coming out of HS. Ainge stank to high heavens his Soph year and some of us thought JC should get a real shot in the spring of 06. EA again stank it up in the scrimmages with JC clearly outperforming him statistically. Numerous threads were started predicting by what game JC would take over.
At no point did JC whine and quit. At no point did he call his coaches out publicly as BJ did after the spring game. At no point did he complain to the AD.... all this in spite of an obvious and growing bias that Cut had against him.
JC may never be a good QB but he definitely has shown more maturity and heart in the face of adversity than BJ did.
