Coleman put ego before Vols

Exactly. Why is it so hard for people to grasp this. "Hand it to him"......."Earn it"....blah blah. Doesnt make any difference how you want to phrase it. Kiffin will say he earned it and will put "his" QB out there to be the future of his team with his signature on it. Coleman knew he was going to be behind the new freshman QB in the perception of his coach. That is the reality that Coleman realized. And he made the decision that it was not in his best interest to be in that scenario.

He has not decided this year's starters yet, much less next year's. Get a clue.

Please see therickbol's post above.

How old are you? If you're under 17 I will give you a pass on your stupid comments. Anything over that, and you must live in Alabama.

Please tell me you're saying Crompton is a better QB than Coleman.

Please tell me and let this board know how much of an idiot you are. If you say Crompton is better than Coleman, you are going on ignore.

Well if its not IQ thats an issue, maybe its because you idiots weren't alive even when Peyton was playing, and are in homeroom on their computers.

Rivals believed he was better before college and both Fulmer and Kiffin have decided he was better in college...are all three of them wrong or do you have another excuse?

Handing it to him and earning it are two completely different things. Sounds to me like you are calling Kiffin a liar.

Kiffin has seen the film and evaluated the QBs that they are recruiting and it is pretty evident that he feels he will bring in somebody that is better than Coleman in his eyes, and certainly has a higher ceiling than Coleman. Nobody is saying his is blindly handing the job to a freshman. He has evaluated the QB's he is recruiting.

If Coleman (and you, apparently) believe that Kiffin is a liar when he says that the best players will play, feel free to do so. So far, though, he has given no indication that he is.

if he's doing that then he needs to give back his salary for the year. And the coaches obviously did not see the competition the same way you do

That's my perception. On this matter, one man's speculation is just as good as another man's. We don't know the full story. I would love to take Kiffin's "competion" remarks at face value, but this incident seems to discredit them. Coleman may not be better than Crompton, but he's good enough to compete for the starting job, and Coleman didn't think he was going to get that chance. This is why I think it seems like Kiffin is using this year as a throw away season to get his 2010 qb.

the coaches view JC as the better QB and that's all that matters. Their jobs depend on it

For the folks bashing Kiffin get a clue, are you so nieve to think he wants to throw this year away to get a recruit get real. Kiffin came to USC and knows how an offense is suppose to be ran. If Kiffin thinks Crompton is the man then he must b the best we got. Maybe Crompton is better. I guess people have short memories of how Ainge sucked withought a good OC.

By the way if Kiffin throws this year like some of you say fans will execute him like we did Fulmer plain and simple.

And picked Crompton over Coleman.

He does not hand out jobs based on high school film. Are you kidding? They have to prove it AT TENNESSEE.

Yeah, their jobs depend on it.... They know they have a free pass this year. MH is not firing them after 1 year, he just wants to get through the year as best as he can, so he can get his QB in here. He would rather go 6-6 with Crompton than 8-4 with BJ to get his QB in here.

I think the important thing to remember is that TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT COACHING STAFFS decided that BJ wasn't the guy. Does this not make a pretty clear statement about his talent and leadership abilities?

yes this should be posted as a header on all posts, if Fulmer didn't like him and Kiffin it must be the coaches get real Vol fans.

Throwing away his first season as a new head coach on a player he doesn't even have yet? I hope we land one of the big QB targets we have on our board for next year, but its not guaranteed we will. Unless they are keeping it a secret (which would make no sense from a recruiting stand point), he doesn't even have "his guy".

You really think Tennessee's coach cares that little about Tennessee?

My biggest problem with that is the last coach had the same view. His job ultimately depended on it too.

and you don't think CPF would have done what was needed to save his job? One guy needed a QB that could win enough to save his job and picked JC. The other guy is brand new and needs wins to make a name for himself at UT and he picked JC. Tells me plenty about our QB situation

Thank you.

Crompton has been evaluated as a better QB for this season than Coleman, therefore Kiffin does not care about this season and wouldn't mind if we went 0-12. Come on.

You can't seriously believe that.
