Will he be a starter this year he looks like he has some good size what do you guys think

I think if he'll find some more intensity and agressiveness that he's definitely earned a shot. The point being (no jab @ Cody) we just don't have a shelf full of linemen to pick from.

At this point, you'd think Pope would at least get a look, considering how depleted the line is to begin with. Try all the guys out this spring, and see what lineman will best protect our QB, because the line in itself is a bigger issue than the quarterback. Though one undoubtedly has an effect on the other.

I would guess the coaching staff is taking this into consideration.

His only chance of starting would be to outperform Shaw this spring and in the fall...which it doesn't sound like he's doing or will do at any point...

He will definitely be in the 2 deep at guard...for no other reason than we just don't have the bodies to keep that from happening...

Don't get me wrong...I think with the right coaching and the right commitment to the weight room Pope could be a decent contributor...

But it doesn't look like he will beat out Shaw this year and I see Stone and Fulton beating him out at guard next year ....so barring an injury Pope will likely be a career backup
