Coca-Cola superbowl ad

I get Coke is a global brand. But to use America the Beautiful, and have it sung in many different languages. That is just disrespectful.

Okay, if you are going to be cocky about it, I will play your game.

For starters, The song, or poem in it original form, was written in a time when immigrates were coming to America for a better life, much like today. However, said immigrates, were coming to be a PART of American culture, in turn, a PART of the American dream. These people knew that life back home wouldn't not afford them the same opportunities that America could. The lives they lived, and money they made were spent in America, and used to bring their loved ones over to enjoy the American way of life as well.

Now, a shift has been made. They have come to be APART from our culture. Many immigrates come to America to make more money, and send it home to take care of their families there. Often(yes often) times, they have separate families here, to receive huge tax returns to make more money (I have seen this first hand). Their plan all along, to stay long enough to be able to go back to their country and live the rest of their lives without working, this is particularly true in the south.

I am all for people coming here, and becoming a part of our economy, but that simply is not the case anymore.

For Coca-Cola, and global brand, to have an ad in many different languages is fine. In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is a brilliant marketing scheme. However, to use what is considered to be one of the more patriotic songs, from a time in history when the American way was something to be proud of... THAT is disrespectful.

(No, I am not a biggot. No, I am not racist. I have friend from many nationalities. But I believe their are certain songs from America's past that should be left in English.)

edit* because I can't type.

No issues with it whatsoever.

And that is fine. To each their own. I felt slightly attacked, as if you were making me out to be a biggot.

Sounded like you were, honestly still kinda does. If people want to come to America legally and better their lives and their family's lives, more power to them, no matter what language they speak.

To be honest, it sounds like you are a child/ young adult, who doesn't understand economics. Do you understand when people make money, and get tax returns, then send money off to other countries, that is bad for an economy?

Do you understand, that when new people are coming to the country daily, and are getting put on government assistance, that is a drain on the economy?

We have a low number of people working. And even lower number of people actually putting money back into the economy, and an increasing number of people taking government appointed money.

I too, am all for people coming here to make their lives better. Where we differ is, I welcome people who come here, to live their lives here. Not people who come here, to leech off of our opportunities, in order to make their lives better back home in another country.

And of course all it takes is one thoughtful commercial from Coke to remind us that 'Merica is full of ignorant racists.

We also have a large number of American citizens who don't even want jobs that sit home and collect welfare. No need to blame jobs on foreigners.

Its a commercial about Coke and people from all over loving America. Some people want to make an issue out of everything.
