Coaching

I guess the coaches didn't have anything to do with us being down by three to the defending national champions at halftime, either did they?

I'm not saying that's a moral victory or anything like that, I'm just guessing the coaches plan didnt have anything to do with that.

im glad im the only one here that when i was 18-24 had the potential to make stupid decisions, much less these guys who are playing in front of 100,000+ and getting worked on by larger more experienced and in most cases more talented opponents. blaming the coach is fun but gosh theres a reason other SEC teams arent playing as many first year players, maybe because they do stupid thing like lineup offsides and miss assignments. other teams just have the luxury of upper classmen and avoid such embarrasments

Fantastic effort by the players and coaches. They tried really hard. I'm sure they will do better next year.

that aren't alumni or contribute to make our athletics better, why the heck should I? I am over you non contributing geeks.

Awwww it's ok buddy like a previous poster said, did you take a $hit and not have tp? Hahaha you are hilarious. Maybe some of us donate to vasf but don't buy season tickets because we don't live close enough and just buy tickets to the 2-3 games we can attend a year. I guess not a true fan now.

haha here come the lack of depth and experience comments again. We have WAY more issues than that on this football team.

Could be part of it, but it also could be our 63 scholarship players against everyone else's 85.

I still believe in Dooley.

My one concern is that it seems we're getting outcoached as far as halftime adjustments. I tried putting it on our depth issues but if that were the case we'd have more problems at the end of the first half as opposed to after 20 minutes of rest during halftime. Thats

I agree w/orangebrownie. We are 83pts. for and 74 pts. against for the year in the first half. In the coaches defense, we have had guys in position to make almost every play, we just can't make the play.

i never claimed they made all the right decisions, but to say that they cost us a win isnt fair either. there is a reason we suck its because we are in the SEC, you cant have bad recruiting years here, and we have had bad years. we can blame all of the coaching decisions we want, but at the end of the night, our D line was not going to stop their all sec line, and in the 2nd half that showed

depth is one thing. substitution errors, too many men on the field, playcalling, and having guys in the wrong position is another.....and that all goes back to the staff.

i'm all for giving dooley enough time and am behind him to get things done, but i have definitely seen some things i haven't liked the last few weeks.

Excellent post.

Anyone with sense can see the # of FR. on the field, and chalk up some of this to them. And rightly so.

You should have the substitution, alignment, running the right routes crap out by now. Especially coming off a bye week. Getting beat when your are out gunned is one thing. Shooting yourself in the foot while doing so, is not acceptable.

+1

As I've said before we have a lot more problems than just depth and experience

wasn't pretty, but thats my team that played out their tonight, those are my coaches that coached the game tonight. And those are my fans that hung in to the very in, even with their hearts broken. See you next week when I'll be rooting for my beloved vols.

Right now, this football program is a disaster and there's nothing that has me excited for next year. I've lost a lot of confidence in Dooley.

What exactly were you expecting out of this year?

Seriously? I don't understand some of you people.

There wasn't a person on this planet who said this wasn't going to be one of the tougher years in memory for our beloved vols.

Last year we went 7-6 with a couple moral victories (Florida and Alabama). I'd even go as far as to say that last year's team overachieved. But overachieving with 2 first round defensive players, A 3rd round running back, A drafted QB, and at least an offensive lineman or 2 who had seen a snap.

Outside of the Georgia game I haven't seen a lack of effort in these players. They've been relatively well prepared to play and have done a decent job.

The 2 problem areas I see so far.
1. Halftime adjustments as i posted earlier
(although the more i think about it, the more i see this as a positive towards coaching) I think the coaches are putting an undermanned team in the best position to win coming out of the gates. They are gameplanning the games in the one way we can win. Unfortunately when the other teams make adjustments to counter our gameplan, we don't have the guns that can adjust back and beat people in other ways

2. Substitutions: Inexcusable but not damning on their own. This would be like saying one has no confidence in the coaching bc they cannot get the center exchange right. It's one issue. It should be an easy correction. It needs to be corrected and fast.

I expect to have the right number of players on the field, get them lined up correctly, show some discipline, and see the team actually improve. Dooley has the deer in the headlights look. We've gotten thoroughly destroyed in most of our games and got lucky as hell we didn't lose to UAB. Right now recruiting is atrocious, and we better hope we can close well and finish in the top 15. There's nothing right now that leads me to believe Dooley can be successful in this conference. I realize where we are, but I'd like to see some improvement.

Why did you have a lot of confidence in him to begin with? I'm not trying to knock him, but it's not like he really had a history of success to bring about confidence. I've tried to stay in a wait and see approach, and what I'm seeing is putrid.
