In B. Hubbs opionon he thinks CPF likes Spence the best out of all the coaches he talked to so far. He says there is a chance that Fulmer might make another run at him with more money.

CTT is out of the question for good. Fulmer offered him a big raise to stay and CTT chose to take a title over the Vols new offer.

B. said he was joking with Fulmer last week about calling plays himself since CPF did have a very successful career calling plays at TN. It is believed CPF is giving some real thought to that.

Also BH thinks there is a possibility Fulmer might hire some position coaches this week. He can't go out to recruit with 4 coaches gone.

The last tidbit for you guys is there might be another interview today but no one knows who. I will try to keep you guys updated if i hear anything on my end.

The absolute worst news we could've possibly gotten.

actually if you will go back and look CPF offenses were very good. I know times have changed but this is not likely to happen in my opinion. the truth is that there is not very much to choose from. I do think he will hire someone but i don't think he wants to just settle for anyone and that is a good sign. If you want to talk about adkins; the man had a line of underclassman that only allowed what 4 sacks all season. The next lowest number was like 9 and that includes all of the NCAA. They also made way for a 1000+ yard rusher. I am not saying he should be OC but he has done very well since his hire. I think this line will be even better next season. i would not look into what anybody says until someone is hired....

I think we could do alot worse than CPF calling the plays. The problem is can he be the HC and OC? Also, is he up-to-date with the current offenses and defenses enough to run an effective offense? I know what happened when Sanders was here, but that was two making the calls. This would be CPF alone. Still, I hope he has a guy in mind.

I am having a hard time buying the Spence thing. I mean if he made a decision and is announcing to players on Tuesday, then it has to be a guy he has interviewed. Only one of Cignetti or Loeffler can be going to UCLA so one of them would have to be willing.

I saw all I want to see of Fulmer calling the plays when Randy Sanders was here.

I think Phil would be spreading himself way too thin if he calls the plays. Additionally, he has been away from that for quite a while... and the game has changed quite a bit in the interim. I don't think he would be ahead of the curve.

I can't see this working out well if it were to happen.

So he has even less time to look over our special teams unit.

i personally think he would change some things. He knows it is not 1992 and he can't afford another 5-6 season. I am more concerned about him having enough time to do both.

We aren't looking at Loeffler as OC, but QB coach. Is UCLA looking at him as an OC?

Conceivably they could both go to UT or both to UCLA, Cignetti as OC and Loeffler as QBs.

I agree. Regardless of what some may think, CPF is not stupid. He will make changes with purpose, not just to make changes.

From a managment standpoint, I don't think CPF should do it, but if he did decide to do it, I'm sure he'd do OK. People need to stop acting like offensive playcalling is akin to quantum physics.

Exactly... that effort we saw Cutcliffe give us Tuesday is a perfect example of that.

Yeah I dont see how we could possibly take a step down in play calling after what we've seen from Cutcliff and Sanders. Cutcliff was a good OC and a great QB coach but a piss poor play caller.

Loeffler was interviewed as OC prospect for UCLA. I believe we were looking at him as Co-OC prospect as well.
Loeffler in my mind is a great pic except he will only last as long as the RR experiment last in Michigan (which may be brief if Pryor does not go there). He wants to be Michigan OC. He has openly sad you can guarantee he will be back at Michigan. I am not sure what the deal is now that there is no Kippy or Troop in the picture if that is even true. This is the most clandestine coach search for a major program I can remember or it is just a very chaotic one.

Right on!!!!!!

Football is life for Fulmer. He is not a dumb-@ss and knows how to run an offense. As has already been pointed out he has been very successfull doing this before.

I seem to recall Fulmer saying that the offense would change next year anyway so you would have to be foolish to believe that he would try to run the 1992 offense again.

I do think that he is a great manager and that playcalling duties would spread him very thin indeed.
