Offense:

1st Down = Run the ball for a loss of 2 yards.

2nd Down and 12 = Run the ball for a loss of 2 yards.

Now on 3rd Down and 14 = lets pass a route that is 10 yards short of the first down.

Then punt it away.

Now that is a good coaching strategies.

:lame:

Defense:

1st down and 10 = we play 5 yards off the WR and they run it and get 5 yard.

2nd down and 5 = they run the ball again and get 3 yards.

3rd down and 2 = we play 15 yards off the WR and they throw a 6 yard route and are guys are 5 yards behind them.

Damn is are coaches that dimwitted?

You also forgot to mention that this strategy doesn't change no matter how far we are behind. I actually wish I could LOL while saying that but its just too sad watching this team play to even be close to funny.
And for all the Dooley lovers that are gonna say I'm not a true fan, well I was a fan BEFORE Dooley and I'll be a fan LONG AFTER Dooley is gone. I will always love the Vols, but I will never respect a coach as stubborn and bullheaded as this one. We should be THE high powered pass team of the SEC, but Dooley is so stuck on this, were in the SEC, and SEC offenses are run based so thats what we have to be. And don;t start with the Simms crap because he was doing this run first crap with Bray healthy.
The truth is Dooley just doen;t have what it takes to coach a team to contender status. He's too worried about fitting in and could care less about coaching a team based off the actual talent he has. Were not close to being "a year away" right now were not even 3 years away from even competing for the SEC East, let alone a National Chanmpionship.
Its just too bad we have to deal with this crap for at least another 2 years but at this point I'm not sure what would do more damage, yet another coaching change or letting this head coach drive us down to the bottom of the SEC. Either way no top talent will want to come here and you can see it in some players they are getting tired of the play calling so were gonna start losing players we already have either way.

Please explain? You can comment but you have no SOLID proof to counter, which is Absolutely Stupid, which is what I'd expect from someone that thinks Dooley has a chance of taking us anywhere.

Dalton Santos and Danny O'brien disagree about top talent coming to knoxville and i doubt dooley cares about fitting in to the sec by trying to run the ball, every great team has to be able to run the ball decently to win in the sec

Thought the strategy was pretty good.
Stop the run - make them pass.
Unfortunately we don't have the depth to do it for 60 minutes.
Run the ball and set up the play action.
Unfortunately, you need a QB that can complete a pass now and then.

The coaching staff knows better than to let Simms air it out cause he F'ING SUX BALLS! So we have to run more and not let him throw more than 7 yards.

Neither of which is a 5 star or #1 at their position, and yah Dooley does care, every game he tries to force the run all game, we get killed and then he goes on to say well if you can't run it you won;t win in the SEC, well thats kinda true but if he would pass first and use that to spread the defense and open the run, we could run the ball, but he doesn't. He tries to be Bama/LSU and do what Saban/Miles does. So either he has NO clue that he has the exact opposite offensive talent those teams have, great pass protecting, good wr's, a couple of gunslinger QB's and mediocre at best RB's where LSU/Bama have great runblocking line, good RB's, decent wr's and mediocre QB's, or as I said before hes more worried about fitting in than winning. Either way hes just doesn't have what it takes to win in the SEC.

Umm try again, he was doing this same crap with Bray(as I said in my first post) and we also have another QB that he waited WAY too long to put in.

Again he did this same crap with Bray so the Simms excuse is just that, an excuse. Oh and you know you can always air it out, which spreads out the defense and would then make it much easier for our mediocre RB's to get some yards since they wouldn;t be facing a stacked line. Running the ball on EVERY single first down is just HORRIBLE coaching.

Santos is number 1 at his spot.

first off chaney is the playcaller so thats that. according to espn's rankings santos is the #1 Ilb so there's that and before Bray got hurt we were passing way more than running the ball so i think the coaches did realize we had to pass the ball to win games as the case was for every game up until lsu when bray was hurt.

The only thing Dooley was maybe too stubborn about was trying to preserve Worley's redshirt for as long as he did.

Some posters here are incredibly clueless. What we just witnessed is what happens when a team that isn't even ONE deep in some positions plays a team that is 3 deep everywhere. At the end of next season, I will be glad to start laying some of the blame for that at Dooley's feet. But all you have to do is look at the Jr and Sr classes on this team and see how few contributors there are to recognize how moronic it is to blame Dooley at this point.

Chaney has always been a pass happy coach, so its pretty clear that Dooley is forcing his hand on the playcalling and did you watch the florida or georgia games? We were only passing when we absolutely had too, we didn;t come out throwing in either of those games or any other SEC games for that matter.
Honestly if Dooley keeps up with his having to run on every single first down and at least 2 out of every 3 plays I see Chaney packing his bags and heading for greener pastures.

good gracious. i wonder what you guys would be saying if we had come out passing and simms threw 5 int's. the running game was the only hope we had

in the first half against florida we passed 21 times compared to 9 running plays and on 1st and 10 plays we passed 5 times ran 4 times in the first half. first drive of the second half we passed and bray threw a int and i doubt chaney is going to leave on his own terms when he stayed when kiffin called the plays when he was here.
