Coaching Search Thread

Steve Masiello I think could be a good hire. He has experience with big time recruits in the south at Louisville and has Manhattan doing about as good as you could ask for what they are.

I wanted Richard Pitino last year. I hope UT will make a serious run at him. He would be a really good fit and coach for us.

Stansbury Greenberg and most of the other clowns- pass! No thanks!!!!

Anybody have any thoughts on Seth Greenberg?

His coaching was able to knock off Duke and/or UNC just about every year. But then he'd lose to GT or WF.

Biggest problem with Seth is the main reason he got fired. Would berate his superiors and not just the players.

I'm one of reason and when we all come on asking doubtful and unrealistic expectations like football version "Gruden". Having said that, pearl has coached this year with no problems and one would have to be an idiot to not see Pearl makes no bones about his adoration for Tennessee. So I say bring Pearl home. Think about excitement with him at basketball helm and Jones at football.

People will hate as he never made the tourney but he was screwed over multiple seasons while on the bubble. Wouldn't be a bad hire.

No he wasn't. He consistently played one of the weakest Power 5 schedules in the country and was docked for it. Committee's made it clear they were looking for who you played and road wins etc and he still went out and played the 250th toughest schedule. They deserved to be at home. He *****ed one year when his team had an RPI in the 80's that he deserved to be in. Not if it's a 68 team tourney Seth.

Jerod Haase would be a fantastic hire. He knows the South, coached under Roy Williams at Kansas and North Carolina. He took UAB from doormat to tournament contender in just three years. There would always be a risk that we could lose him to a basketball school, but I think he could do really great things here.

Why would a recruit want to play for a coach that might be suspended for a year next season? His recruiting already wasn't good. Now they're gonna come here and wait a year until he returns should he be suspended? Recruiting would be non-existent. Not that it wasn't already lacking.

1. Facilities
2. Fan base
3. Recruiting can be really good(Butch is proof of that in football)
4. Tennessee has shown it is capable of being a great program.(elite 8, and a number of sweet sixteens)
5. The number 5 is money.. That is the question. Are we willing to pay 2.5mil to 3 mil for a great basketball coach?

There are very attractive reasons for a coach to like Tennessee.

Money, facilities, power conference with a good TV contract.

Lots of reasons.

Take your T-shirt back to Walmart if this is all you have to offer.

We can get any coach we want, SEC, Power 5, unrivaled facilities, the sky's the limit.

He was just going to get a suspension. The reason for his firing was the recruiting restrictions that are gonna be levied on him. We can't handle recruiting restrictions.

Looking at his recruiting, I'm not sure we could handle it even without restrictions as long as he's the coach. :ermm:
