3 positions need immediate improvement or the coaches will remain handcuffed.
1. QB, no need to explain there are 1000's of posts on this.
2. Safety, Warrior is horrible in pass defense and in tackling in the open field. He is a liability.
3. RG, it doesn't matter who we put in that position they just don't cut it. If UT had a solid RG then the O line shuffles wouldn't be necessary.
Once these 3 areas are fixed in my opinion the team can begin to excel.
Just a fan here not a coach but I've seen enough late check downs with passes thrown into double coverage short of the line to gain on 3rd down to last me a lifetime since JG has been the starter. I've also seen Warrior miss on so many tackles, be out of position or just late in providing support to know he isn't that good of a safety. And a good RG would solidify that O line and our linemen can play their individual roles and not have to help or be thinking about an area that needs help.
In my opinion, which is just that my opinion JG and Warrior must be great in practice. They both have been viewed as talented players and neither fought for their position this year. But when the lights come on their lights go off.
I honestly believe that the coaches are handcuffed through the lack of quality players in these areas. I do believe the coaches are to blame for not making changes. Pruitt benches highly talented running backs for fumbles but leaves in a QB that cant hit an open receiver and 90% of the time checks down and still has difficulty throwing a good pass. That is on the coaches.
I'm down to 3 options for the 2019 Vols as a fan.
1. Bench JG
2. Fire Pruitt for not benching JG
3. Do both options 1 & 2
Basically if JG is allowed to see the field wearing the Power T again I believe the Head Coach should be gone. It takes 2 to tango.
