5:00 PM ET - Not exactly sure what's going on at this point, but I'm starting to believe that there's more going on behind the scenes than we're being told. At this point, it's more of a gut feeling than anything else, although there have been some signs that point in that direction.
After talking with one coach this morning about the Muschamp rumors and being told that the staff had contacted him to let him know Muschamp was staying, we've reached out to more than a half-dozen other high school coaches, including Jordan Hicks' coach, and they haven't heard from the Texas staff at all. It might mean nothing, but it's notable.
I also spoke with another non-UT source and he reported that there's smoke forming that Muschamp is being offered three million dollar per year by Tennessee and that he has not personally told Tennessee that he's out of play, but there's some thought that this could also be agent games at work.
Of course, all of our Texas sources remain 100% certain that Muschamp is staying and we haven't seen anything concrete to dispute that. However, the info from the non-UT source, along with the reports from the coaches that they haven't heard from the Texas staff today has us wondering what's going on a little.
It might not mean anything at all, but we're certainly keeping an eye on things. The bottom line is that the silence on the issue from school and coaches is at least some sort of red flag. (Ketchum)
