Sorry to everyone that thinks a new coach will magically get us to an 8-4/9-3 season. The idea of getting a new coach now is not only a step in the wrong direction, but would be an extremely dumb decision.

We would be looking at another 2-3 years of adjusting to a new offensive/defensive scheme.

Our recruiting would take a dive again.

Our team would be split again among those that support dooley vs those that support the new coach.

On another note: I don't see dooley losing to Miss State, but if he does, he can easily win out. We would go 7-5. A lot of you think that this is 'accepting mediocrity' or 'is not going to cut it for a UT football team'. Well it is time to face reality. UGA, UF, USC, and UA are teams that we have to play every year. We are not going to be favored to win against those teams (maybe one or two of them will have a down year).

So quit yer b*tchin. This is our UT team. Support the team or find a new team to support. Accept the reality that they have better talent than us. :hi: We are the underdogs.

It all depends on who (hypothetically) we'd get. You cant say recruiting will suffer without knowing who the coach would be.

true, but do you think that will give us wins? Our team will be deflated, morality will drop. Nick Saban didn't even have a good first season at UA.

You know, i'm beginning to lean that way.

Even though we didn't play today, it feels like we lost. Just to see these teams and how far ahead they are of us. Aren't we supposed to be a "veteran" team?

So fire dooley is the answer? Would be two steps backwards when all of these other teams are taking a step forward.

Valid point. It is depressing to see how much better these teams are.

Exactly. If we were able to land a huge name(ie gruden) recruiting could actuall improve immediately. It's a gamble though. If hart is smart he would have some private conversations to test the waters a little before doing anything.

Its getting old bro. A kick ass coach would not put us back any farther than we would already be next year.

Not if UT does what it's supposed to do. (get a top notch coach)
I can say with finality, Derek Dooley is not the answer.

The only hold over i would want from this staff is Jay Graham.

Why?? Because we are tired of seeing other teams move forward, and our team continually spinning its wheel in the mud?? Do you think you are a better fan than I am, because you say better things on a message board that I do, or others do?? You been to any games this year at Neyland?? If not, I've been to 2, and am planning on being at the Missouri game, regardless of our record, unless it's just nasty outside on 11/10. So, take your true fan sentiment, and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Nothing personal, but that statement right there has finally rubbed me the wrong way, and I'm tired of hearing it. Kinda like when Dooley says, "It's a process.". Hope you understand. :hi:

or we could stick with the status quo and keep taking steps backwards ?
so keep Dooley and keep going 7-5 ,6-6 and that accomplishes what ? by then he should be what 0-20 against ranked teams.thats progress.

Make Dooley head coach in waiting and promote him to head coach in a few decades. Keeps current players and recruits happy as well as all fans
