Coaching Candidates

I agree that it was time for CPF to move on. But.....name 1...just 1 freshman that made a HUGE difference in this past yrs. team.????? Jackson...ok..maybe.....but he did not "WIN" a game for UT. Did Brown, Oku, Richardson, ect..make a difference at UT? Not as frosh.....Oku and Brown, and Jackson will be good down the road...but NO big difference this year!

CPF could have won 6-7 games with this team.....

He won 5 the year before with better personnel and was slaughtered by Bama, Georgia, SC and Florida.

Wasn't there a story several months back about the Kiffin hiring process that stated Troy Calhoun was Hamilton's second choice behind lame?

Anybody suggesting another team's current head coach needs to stop being pissed off at Kiffin. Because you're asking your candidate to screw over his current school's fans in exactly the same way that we just got done ourselves.

I'm not saying we shouldn't do it, but if we do then we have absolutely no right to whine about what happened to us.

It's not that he left, it's that he left after a year...

Also, per ESPN we have contacted Gruden and Houston Nutt. Muschamp probably isn't coming...

If we do hire Calhoun, will he run the option? I don't know if that is his offense, don't watch too many Air Force games, but I thought that is what they run. I know he ran the offense for the Houston Texans, so I assume he won't implement the option if we hire him

What would volnation say about Tommy Tuberville? I bet the ink isn't even dry from his deal with TT. He may have not signed anything yet anyway I dont know.
Also what about going after Kirby Smart?
what's everybody's thoughts on those two?

I wish we could get Muschamp as HC, Kippy as WR, Chaney for OL, Jeremy Bates as OC, Garner as DL, Thompson as DC, and fill in the staff with Skip Holtz and Shane Beamer.

Calhoun is a quality coach. Pro experience with Broncos and Texans. He took over for DeBerry and tweaked his option system and turned that program around in 1 year. They are tough and disciplined. If you saw what they did to Houston, you know he can coach offense.

Patterson and Peterson and entrenched with new contracts. I think Calhoun would be a great hire, but he may not want to leave AF yet because he is an AFA grad.

I think Kippy would be a great hire. Offensive mined, and he's one of our own. I don't think he would run and leave us hanging.

I agree. Calhoun, Leavitt, and Kippy Brown are the probable front runners.

I've pretty much decided that with the current candidates I'm going to vomit when they announce who we hire. If it's Calhoun/Leach/Muschamp I hope they leave for another school after a few years. I wouldn't mind a Kirby Smart kinda guy...but Calhoun's offense would not have many fans here.

Our choices of realistic candidates are mediocre. Let's keep Kippy Brown on as interim and take a look at hopefully better candidates next Fall

Cutcliffe would be fine with me. Keep as many recruits as we can and really coach up what we have. I do not really want an option offense in Knoxville.

No Option no Cutcliffe!!

I understand the want to hire a coach now due to recruiting but, I think Hamilton needs to take his time and find the right guy.

Maybe its just me, but alot of people seem to think Calhoun only would run the option when many logical posts have stated that wouldn't be the case. He's had experience in a pro offense in Denver and Houston, and the likelihood that he would run a pro style here is still reasonable. My only concern with Calhoun is his recruiting, not his offense.

Don't know how I feel about Cut coming back, and I wouldn't touch Leach with a twenty foot pole.

Can I vote we make Kippy HC,give him a checkbook, and tell him to get a damn good staff?
