Coaches vote Byars POY - Stallings COY

Hard to really argue a whole lot about those.

Good to see the freshmen getting some recognition, even if it is 3rd team for Crews, Chism and Ramar.

Scratch that...Coaches screw us again.
Yeah, Lofton got AP SEC POY. Don't ever imagine that the collective group of @$$tards (minus Pearl of course) known as the SEC coaching fraternity will ever look too favorably on the Tennessee basketball program.

But, in continuing to snub them, they just give Pearl and his team more motivation to beat their sorry butts every chance they get.

SEC coaches' postseason awards as Kevin Stallings was chosen SEC Coach of the Year by his peers and senior guard/forward Derrick Byars was selected SEC Player of the Year by the league's coaches. Florida teammates Lee Humphrey and Chris Richard earned SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and SEC's Sixth Man of the Year honors, respectively. Arkansas' duo of Patrick Beverley and Steven Hill earned the SEC Freshman of the Year award and SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors, respectively.

The handwriting was on the wall....

that's the 3rd "all freshman" team. in other words, the other SEC coaches thought that there were at least 10 better freshmen in the league than ramar, duke and wayne.

"Byars finished second in scoring during SEC play with 19.1 ppg."

...then why are you giving him the award and not the guy who finished first?

That's two years in a row. The fix is in. These coaching hooers make me laugh. Why the heck do they dislike us so much? Because of the Iowa thing? Is it because we lead the league in Technicals? Jeez!

I did read it wrong but it's the all-freshman team, not the 3rd one. Plus Chism and Ramar were unanimous selections so they did not think there were that many better.

We are the loud, obnoxious, new kid on the block that can actually play and they are pissed we are beating them. Let them have thei little coaches awards, who cares.

Byars was the shock and being a senior...thats the only reason...plus i'm sure theres a good "had a rough life, now i'm doing really well" story to him

Stat Boy says: "The article misstates Byars' scoring average. He is actually 4th in the league with 16.9 points."

This actually makes a decent case of Jajuan getting snubbed, too.

Byars finished second in scoring during SEC play with 19.1 ppg.

I think they are trying to give his average during only SEC games but it's hard to tell.

that's a joke, COY has got to be pearl or the guy from Ole Miss over Stallings

Stallings gets COY for calling Pearl "an idiot #$%#@$" because the other coaches think it (but don't say it) and awarded their megaphone.

Kennedy should have won with CBP following closely behind.

I think the bigger joke is Lofton not getting POY. Byars is a nice player and all, but come on. Lofton averages close to 4 points better and when he came back from the injury we were 7-1.

I think Byars has a little more help at Vandy with Foster and Cage over Jajuan and Ramar.

Apparently Pearl should've went 8-8 in his first year with a team predicted to finish 5th in its division.

In SEC play, Lofton averages 18.5 points/game, while Byars averages 19.1.

However, that is with the SC game in which Lofton played 12 minutes and only got 4 points, and the LSU game where Lofton first came back and over 20 min only got 8 points at about 70%.

Without those 2 games, he averages 21 pt/game

Pearl's not going to ever win any popularity contests among anyone except Vol fans and that's ok by me. I think Stallings is as complete an idiot as I have ever seen. His little girly spat with Noah over the ball earlier in the year really showed what a pr**k he is. By the way, props to my homie Tidwell, had to roll out for a little while, but Im BAAAAAACK BABY.

Really, who cares? I'll take the wins over individual awards any day. Besides, we keep winning, the individual awards will come...

These awards are just like the polls. Look at different sites and you see different winners. CBSSportsline gave POY to Horford. I think I will just go by the AP awards.

We probably get a little carried away with all the anti-UT conspiracy stuff (at least I do). But I can't help but think there's a bit of jealousy and worry from many of the other coaches and ADs around the league. They see how much fun UT players and fans are having and must think, "I want some of that." Kind of like Aikman, or whoever it is at the end of Jerry McGuire who's like, "Why aren't we like that?"

The SEC Coaches determine the POY, COY, and FOY that gets acknowledged in the future, the rest of the stuff is just fluff that others do to fill space and time.

seems to me like COY should take character into account as well as success, and clear Stallings showed throughout the season a lack of the former.

Slick Rick says, this is a joke. Stallings had almost his entire team coming back this season. He should have been good. Pearl had another great season, without any props from his peers around the conference. People don't like him, but as long as he wins. Who cares.
