Right between the uprights (11). Reason, IMO: they're confident about the SEC abilities of DeBord and Shoop, but still a tad unsure about CBJ (which opinion will change this year).

If we start out where I believe we will, 5 to 8 range, we won't move up much at all after the first four games. Simply won't be any room for us to advance. Unless, that is, one of those season-opener games surprise us, like LSU losing to Wisconsin or Bama to USC, or something like that.

Otherwise, we can beat Florida and still remain right where we are. It will be a tectonic shift for us Vols fans who have waited to break the streak so many years, but for the rest of the nation, not quite as earth-moving.

If we start in the top 8, you are prob right but Florida is still a quality win compared to what a couple of teams above us will have at that time. Most likely won't move up but a spot or 2 with a win depending on, like you said, someone losing one of those big games opening week.

What few times recently that we've been ranked early Florida has made it very short lived. I was just asking cause I'd be happy with waking up the following Monday morning knowing we haven't moved ANY at all in the rankings.

I tend to agree especially on defense but you could still reasonably project ND to finish with a better record. They always get the preseason benefit of the doubt.

They always get the benefit of the doubt? This is only the fourth time in the past twenty years they've been ranked in the preseason top 15.

That depends on which poll you're looking at... and Notre Dame has a long history of being over-ranked in the preseason that goes a helluva lot longer than 20 years. If you would argue that then you would argue anything.

We'll be #8.

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Oklahoma
4. FSU
5. LSU
6. Ohio State
7. Michigan
8. Tennessee
9. Stanford
10. Notre Dame

Everyone gives you a bunch of crap bc of your Dobbs fanboy posts, but really good job with those predicitons every team within 1 except TN & Stanford
