I think the fact that we aren't going to Atlanta made us a less interesting team, and I wouldn't be surprised if we just hover around 20 in the CFP rankings too.

Coaches poll doesn't matter. We weren't on the AP last week either, yet #19 on the CFP. We will probably be around 17 or 16 this week.

In the regular season (AP, Coaches), no. Once the final CFB Playoff rankings are released in couple of weeks, however, UT can easily be in the Top 15.

After the bowls/playoffs, the AP/Coaches will release their final rankings. A 10-3 Tenn team with a quality win could comfortably be in the top 15, even barely break the top 10 depending on what happens to other teams.

This is the coaches poll. We were not ranked in it last week. We will likely be 15-17 when the CFP Poll comes out this week. That is the only poll that matters.

Florida probably won't get punished for losing a conf champ game. But if they are blown out by FSU they will pay for that in the polls. But they're high enough that I can't see them falling out of rankings

Very true. But the AP/coaches will somewhat matter after the postseason, as I'm sure we'd all like to see UT ranked as high as possible.

Does that matter? All of last week on TV and everything else I seen a 19 and does that really matter ether because, I don't see us going to playoffs.

The Coaches Poll had us unranked last week. We actually jumped up about 9 spots (we were like 4th team out).

It - the CFP rankings, not the Coaches Poll - does because the highest ranked SEC team in the CFP rankings outside of Bama has to go to the Sugar Bowl.

They'll drop 2-3 spaces in the CFP rankings (if the last two seasons are any indication).

That said, we'll need to see where they are in those rankings, not these.

I think the fact that we are not a very good team is the reason we hover around 20!!
