Coaches meeting Sunday

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but are we not now expecting to win the AR game, hoping to win the UGA game, and at least compete against Bama at this point? Yeah, I'd like to say we're going to win'em all but I think the above is what the majority of us are thinking right now.

i don't expect much at all based on what i've seen. i said in the pre season 8-4, 9-3 if we got some breaks.

9-3 i think is out the window, and 8-4 seems less likely.

i don't think we'll beat UGA or Bama. we are capable of beating everyone else on the schedule. i don't know that we will though. the trip to Lexington seems tougher now. this game Saturday is a must win for both teams, so i expect it to be a close one. Missouri has started slow before (last season for ex) and finished strong, plus it's in Columbia. who knows, by the time we get to USCe, they may have figured things out. not to mention there's a huge mental hurdle this team needs to get over, and the hurdle gets higher and higher with every loss.

all that said, i do still want the coaches to recognize what the issues are, find solutions, implement, and win.

just because my expectations i have lowered my expectations based on what i've seen, doesn't mean i want them to achieve that.

i don't expect we'll be GA...but i still want to beat GA, and it's not like i'd be upset if we did. i really want to be wrong. it sounds like there a lot of us that would rather be right.

Son, I have a degree, Management traning, ITIL and ISO certification, Novel, Microsoft, and Oracle certifications.

I have 25+ years in Information Technology and Senior Business management in fields as diverse as Government, Telecom, Defense Industry, Retail, Manufacturing, Aerospace, et al. This has been from companies as small as 100 million to fortune 50 companies.

I'll meet and compare qualifications with anyone, anywhere, any time. Especially in what it takes to be a leader and lead diverse organizations, or to identify problems areas, analyze those processes and create a solution.

You should be the coach bro so much knowledge

Damn, way to go bud. Now if we could get you on the analytical coaching staff, then...we all good...:)

GO VOLS!

i can guarantee they were not obsessing over the game like half you babies are - its Monday dont you have more important things to worry about than how 19 year olds performed during a sporting event?

If i had to bet i would say 85% of the people on here did not attend UT for college.

UHH, on the contrary they better be obsessing over the game even more than us babies because that is their JOB and what they are PAID to do, which is win, not fail... and that is what they should have been working on, fixing their issues so that they do not FAIL again at the job they are getting paid to do.... IDIOT POST

We don't need analytical at this point. That's what Butch's "chart" is made of. We need common sense.

If they put the hammer down for 4 quarters, return to a balanced running and passing attack, and stop it with the rushing of 3 down linemen on critical downs...I'd consider that as them learning from their mistakes and I'd get off their backs, as I'd presume many in our fanbase would.

That's all we're asking. Stop getting soft in the 2nd half. That's not asking the world of Butch and staff.

If they did that, we'd be 4-0

What I expect has been lowered... my expectations haven't. I'm pretty sure you're in the same boat.

Though I now do not believe this team will win more than 2-4 more games unless Jones changes... the standard didn't soften just because they may not hit it.

It will still be a profound coaching failure if this team has less than 8 wins. I have always felt there were 9 games that the Vols should win as I looked at them individually. Not to crow too much... but I called what we've seen from Ark, MU, and USCe. I believed UF should have been a win... and still do.

IMHO, 8 wins allowed Jones to "succeed" by beating 8 of the 9 opponents where he had an equal and usually better roster... and losing to the 3 best teams on the schedule. He's already used his mulligan.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

short term vs. long term. my post was dealing with what's left this year, as far as lowering expectations.

what i thought we'd be vs. what we are, have proven to be two different things. i've adjusted my outlook on the season accordingly.

that doesn't mean that's what i want to happen, now or in the future. i would rather be dead wrong on what happens the rest of the season.

I expect to win against Arkansas...

There still down there best Running back....We're playing at home, and just put up 234 yards rushing on a team that has a better defense than Arkansas

We have a little 5 lb chihuahua with these big a** ears. They tend to accumulate dirt and fungus so once in a while I have to hold him down while my wife takes a q-tip and shoves it down in there deep so she can get all the s*** out. In fact, I don't think he has any brains, just a lot of s*** between his ears. That's how I feel about our coaching staff sometimes. When the 4th quarter comes I feel like I want to shove a few q-tips their way and tell them to dig that s*** out.

Butch starts the meeting - "Alright guys lets brainstorm, going to need a whole lotta excuses, new cliches, and players to throw under the bus after that one."

All this anti-chart business is dumb. A chart is a useful tool to quickly see which option gives you the best chance to win. I highly doubt the chart said go for 1, and that is the problem. If it did, the chart is simply in error. Using a chart is not the problem, in any case.

I've been doing my job for 10 years. I don't need a chart. I am sure Butch has encountered similar situations with different teams. Play to win the game. Play to win the game. Play to win the game. I am sure none of the Maxims say consult your chart.
Butch knows this team. The coaches know this team. You can't coach from a chart. You coach based on the flow of the game. Coaching calls you to make split second decisions...not consult a damn chart.

Have you been toilet trained too?

BTW it says 'Novell' (two ll's) on my old CNE. Did something change?
