Coaches meeting Sunday

apparently our coaches had a meeting Sunday that lasted from seven in the morning to midnight. wonder what they discussed how many bricks they had or how it was our young players fault?

Well, I know from about 1:00-4:00 PM EST they were giving the Titans tips in their game vs. the Colts...

So at least we know how 3 hours was spent.

Yep. The amount of negativity on this forum is frustrating to see. No matter what Butch Jones says or does, whether good or bad, the NegaVols are going to find something to b*tch about. Tennessee could win a National Title and they would say how we lucked into it or "only won because of trick plays" or whatever other stupid stuff they were saying on Saturday in the live game thread.

Ugh. No one should care about words. In case you haven't heard, they're cheap.

Hey, we care about what he does. That's exactly why there is negativity. Perhaps you missed the UF game in 2014 and 2015 and OU game in 2015.

Support the Vols. They doesn't necessarily have to include the multi-millionaire at the helm.

I just have one question: Why is it that we virtually always seem to get an Offensive Coordinator, who has either been fired from a job and is a Coordinator, who nobody else wants??? DeBord is certainly nobody to brag about! He coached Tom Brady and somebody else. Big effing deal! If we are building Tennessee brick by brick, I'd say that we are still a few bricks shy of a load! I am mostly talking about Assistant Coaches with the Offensive Coordinator, in particular.

Maybe if the "bashing" as you call it wasn't true or didn't have any basis, but unfortunately, that's just not the case.

The "GET BEHIND BUTCH! NEVER QUESTION HIM!" crowd is just as bad as the "FIRE BUTCH RIGHT NOW" crowd. It's just that the Fire Butch crowd is starting to make a lot of sense given the body of work we have with this coach. What's the point in having a loaded roster when you can't coach it up and you can't call a game?

This is part of the problem, the UT roster is by no means loaded! It is better, but not loaded yet. The Vols still lack the talent they need in several key positions including the offensive line. UT's roster has improved under Butch, but it's certainly not back to the level of talent that Fulmer had in the 90's through 2006. Butch is still a few top 10 classes away from reaching a loaded roster when folks just need to realize that.

I think we need a new OC & DC as well.

i can guarantee they were not obsessing over the game like half you babies are - its Monday dont you have more important things to worry about than how 19 year olds performed during a sporting event?

If i had to bet i would say 85% of the people on here did not attend UT for college.

Is that you Reading?

Hart will have to be the one to force some assistant changes on this staff (including OC and Off line)... Butch will never do it on his own. I'm definitely not in favor of a head coaching change but if Jones resists any change at all then maybe it should happen.

This 100% Debord and Mahoney.Heck probably Azzani also.

Maybe they are rewriting the play book and simplifying it for Dobbs to complete some quick passes, put roll outs in and moving WR in motion to get them open. SJT has it right. If your OL can't block after 2-3 years in this system, why? If your QB can't hit a WR after 3 years in the system, why? It's not like Dobbs is a bad QB, but how many big pass plays have we seen this year?

Wait, let me see if I understand you correctly. We should wait 6 yrs before some fans have complaints?

Right. And top ten classes stop rolling in when recruits see the head coach getting embarrassed multiple times a season. So if nothing changes, the team won't get better.

then why the hell are you here ? you clearly don't care about the direction of the team

Was scheduled to only be a two hour meeting, but there were clock management problems.

Sorry, it was right there. It had to be done. :)

How much is really DeBord's fault and how much is Butch's? I can just about guarantee and would probably lay money on......the trick plays were DeBord's idea. I would almost bet that the last 10 mins of the game were not.

I really have no clue, but it doesn't make sense that he would do a complete 180 in game calling on his own accord.
The timeouts and the failure to go for two points were absolutely on the HC.

Exactly! Hurd has to be superman to get what he does because when lined up the way they do most of the time, it dictates which way he goes unless he makes a great cut.

Good point about dictating the direction he's going to go. On the long TD drive that should have sealed the deal, Hurd was line up behind Dobbs instead of beside him. During the whole next drive I was thinking "why are they going away from what was working?"

Weren't you behind the coaches yesterday?

He hated Butch Saturday morning....loved him again Sunday and basically told anybody who had a criticism of Butch to go to hell....and today he's back to hating him.....needs to get that lithium prescription refilled IMO.

If they put the hammer down for 4 quarters, return to a balanced running and passing attack, and stop it with the rushing of 3 down linemen on critical downs...I'd consider that as them learning from their mistakes and I'd get off their backs, as I'd presume many in our fanbase would.

That's all we're asking. Stop getting soft in the 2nd half. That's not asking the world of Butch and staff.
