Coaches Leaving/Recruits Decommitting

I presented facts and they were true. You just yammer whatever anti-fulmer thought that comes into your head. Some times you should not let your mouth do your thinking....dudette.

And where is Phil coaching these days?

Go Vols.

How does a school that is supposed to be one of the most prestigious when it comes to football, have fans that can only sit and worry about the next coach to leave or recruit to decommit? How can coaches and recruits consider UT a "dream job" if the fans are too insecure about their program to consider it to be one of the best football programs in the nation?

Part of it has a good reason... most of it does not.

UT does not enjoy great instate talent to provide it with a solid base to start from every year. UGA, UF, Bama, Auburn, LSU, and even USCe and Ole Miss can count on some good instate players coming their way every year regardless of whether the program is up or down. Since recruits do not have instate loyalty to UT, stability in the staff is more important.

Second, UT fired a coach had been around for 18 years or so then got burned by Kiffin. That did hurt the program and it is not unreasonable to think that further signs of instability would hurt even more.

For the most part though, you have some people here driven by emotion who cannot put things into perspective. They overreact especially on things they perceive as negative. They are attracted to things that make them "feel good"... thus some of the Kiffin lovers who are absolutely certain that Dooley will fail. Kiffin gave them a tingle up their leg. DD is a process guy... not very exciting.

The man led us to something that has happened once in fifty years and never got us into any serious trouble.

It was time to move on but why our fan base wants to continually degrade him is beyond me?

All I'll say is be careful what you wish for. For all of you crying for Hamilton's head, who else do you think will campaign hard for that position? I agree that PF started the process of where we are as a program right now, but he also did allow me to witness one of the greatest seasons of UT football. My memory of him will be that championship.

And back to the post, I don't remember VN being like this until about PF's last year. Am I wrong?

OH and before I get jumped on about this, no I don't want to see PF as our AD.

Again, you can find numerous posts I have made praising Fulmer for what he did at, and for, UT Football. Again, I believe he is a CFHOF coach.

But he is gone. I had nothing to do with it, but it was time for him to go. Even a cursory look at his record since, say...2001 will make that clear. If you look deeper, at his record against Top 25 teams, SEC CG record, and bowl record, then even the most ardent Fulmer supporter cannot deny that he had lost his grip on the program.

I suppose my only option is to employ the ignore function on those posters who cannot resist the urge to trumpet the accomplishments of the very coach who led us into the quagmire of mediocrity we are trying to climb out of.

Go Vols.

I wonder if Bowden got this from the FSU fans
