I'm gonna get blasted for this but just know I completely support dooley and firmly believe in him. My statement is IF dooley does get fired after this year, I would LOVE for us to throw the big bucks at Gundy.
Agreed !! If Dooley stays four years we will have a proven young coach or Hart will have $5m to hire a new one. I believe CDD, can win, the pieces are coming together.
A little more patience my friends . :hi:

he is on the warm seat.....it becomes hot with a loss to florida this year............the bum warmers are really kicked up if we lose to Georgia.......and he will have 3rd degree burns with a loss to USC jr....................its 11+ wins or bust this year.

How is Brian Kelly #84? He is going into his 3rd year at ND. That guarantees you a spot in the top 25.

Beat Florida and he falls off this list. Lose to them he may move up. Simple and clear.

I agree. A UF win gives him another year assuming he doesn't tank the rest of the season and it is very realistic/reasonable for him to win vs UF this year.

Truly believe we win 9 games this year and you negative folks will have to pull your knives from CDD's back. You'll find a way to cricize our success though...I'm confident of that. Watch out for the beasts in Orange this year...GBO

It's ridiculous to see the UT Head Coach only garner $1.8/yr. You get what you pay for. Dooley may turn out to be a bargain, but if this year doesn't work out, UT needs to throw some serious dollars to get a top-level coach. The USF HC makes more than the UT Head coach? What a Joke!

Name a top level coach. Then name a top level coach who will actually come to UT.

In my entire life of 48 years, UT has hired one name coach: Johnny Majors and we got him because he was an alumnus

You do realize Gundy works for T Boone Pickens don't you?

This is total BS.

CDD is NOT on any hot seat unless we tank the entire season and only win 4 or 5 games and that's not going to happen.

AD Hart loves CDD and his rebuilding plan and knows that we'll never get any top coach to replace CDD unless CDD is given a fair shake of at least 4 to 5 years to get our disaster of a program turned around.

I believe this season will show everyone that CDD has us back on the right track and he'll get us back on top if the stupid fans will shutup and let him keep rebuilding the way his plan is setup to do.

VFL...GBO!!!
Amusing

I guess whoever listed coach Dooley at #5 must read Volnation! Some of these posts indicate that some people have way too much time on their hands worrying about the Vols. Coach Dooley has proven himself in many areas, including his character and building a program in a positive fashion. Yes, he does have to start showing improvement on the field, but I believe he will get there. Making that determination based on next season (or even last season as some the the microwave generation suggest) is premature to put it mildly. DD has done a credible job recruiting and things on the hill are BETTER, but who would say that we are back to the glory years from a talent perspective? Not Yet. When the junior class becomes seniors, then we will have a more accurate read on the progress of the program, but until we are at a place where the starting roster is compiled primarily of Junior and Seniors who were redshirted we will still be a half-step behind the top tier teams.

Honestly, he has one of the hottest seats in the nation. What I mean by that, is, while I absolutely like the way this offseason has turned out amidst all of the defections, and I think he's finally got some momentum, all hotseat means is that if he doesn't meet expectations, he's gone. I truly believe if he doesn't win 8-10 games this year barring major injuries, I think he's gone. He's got a schedule that plays some important teams in Neyland, and we're set up talent wise to beat the teams we should, compete and maybe beat some teams we shouldn't, or at least that have us in the should win column. He is truly on the hot seat, but he has all the tools to remove himself from it, and equal opportunity to check himself out.

Like it or not if Dooley only wins 6 games it's very possible he'll be fired at the seasons end.

Of course it'll have a lot to do with how he lost the games he lost, who we beat and how we beat them, injuries, bad luck breaks, etc. If we only win 5, it's alomst certain he'll be let go. If we just catch bad breaks then he could get a way with 5 or 6 wins. But 4 wins he's out of here regardless of what happens, IMO.

Comment and question:

Very nice post. I am hopeful and open minded to Dooley but IMHO it would take extraordinary circumstances for him to survive with less than 7 wins. I believe he has a good enough team now to win 8+.

Question though.... how did you get hold of that user's password?

Dooley is a season away from continuing or being fired. So I would say his seat is on fire. I hope he turns it around. Not much longer to wait.

Dooley will be off of this chart next year. 2012 will be one of the better years for the Vols in a long time. Good year this year, write it down
