Coaches headed to change Henry T's mind

Basilio says this means nothing and what he’s heard he’s 95% gone or higher and he’s flying out west because today he’s still our coach but may not be next week

He isn't getting fired and our fans need to understand the damage they're doing to the program by not supporting the current head coach. If you don't like him, fine. If you want him fired, fine. But keep the hate speech off Twitter. It's poison.
Are you serious? You are going to put the damage being done to our program on the fans? Last I checked our fans don't scout, recruit, or develop players. They don't put together a coaching staff or game plan. The don't design offenses or defenses. They don't call plays or misuse QB's or make boneheaded game management decisions. Our fans sit back and root for their team through all of this BS and watch as the administration continually drives our football program into the ground. It is plain to see by everyone and I do mean everyone, that is not hyperbole, that CJP is not capable of leading a successful winning program. So the only damage being done is caused by dragging this out and allowing a dismal failure of a coach continue to field a god awful team and hemorrhage players through the transfer portal, lose recruits and basically destroy whatever we have left in our football program. So wake up because clearly you are dreaming if you can't see what is happening right now.

Sounds like due diligence. Intro to Steele and his philosophy maybe. Probably too late tho.

Unfortunately people will still not accept it.
Oh I’ll accept it. I’m just done. This team has fallen to depths even I didn’t think is possible. Sadly, they no longer care to be competitive. They will go 6-6 next year and make a run of the mill bowl game and say “see”. That will be enough for this moron to return for even another year. Fulmer has destroyed his legacy and Plowman and Boyd could care less.

Hate to be the bear of bad news here, but this article is very easy to read through the lines.
CJP will be back in 2021.
They are headed to meet with the recruits that were recruited by Neids to tell them they are clear to stay after the investigation.
The two biggest recruits Neids landed was Crouch and Henry.
Wouldn’t be surprised to hear Neids leaving on his own will very soon.

Guys relax - Pruitt's gone. That meeting yesterday went very poorly for him. He may not even be able to go home to daddy at Alabama. He may have to be rehabbed in the NFL for awhile as some type of position coach. He's DONE

Tells me that they do not have the money to get rid of him and Fulmer can not convince any of the boosters to improve the program. Players jumping ship knowing this program can not help them.
They can always find the money. That is an excuse for lack of action.

Basilio has no idea. He's just taking shots in the dark and hoping something sticks. That's his thing. Nothing ever specific, because he doesn't have sources. Just vague timelines that have loopholes to get out of anything he says if it doesn't materialize.

I like Basilio, and really enjoy his show. He may be dead on correct. But I suspect no one, including Phlegmatic Phil and Slingblade themselves know what they are doing at this point. There seems to be a loose, chaotic approach to managing this process, in classic Tennessee style.

Time will tell.

At this point, Fulmer should be fired even if we don't fire Pruitt. If Pruitt is indeed coming back, Fulmer is completely hamstringing his head coach he supports so much by not coming out with a declarative statement that Pruitt is our HC in 2021. He's setting Pruitt up for failure next season by leaving him hanging by a thread, which means we will inevitably fire him next year and all we did was waste an entire season.

Fulmer is hilariously bad at his job.

I agree with this statement. Fulmer should have said something like this "With COVID, 2020 was a trying and challenging season for everyone involved. We have high standards at the University of Tennessee and Jeremy will be the first one to admit we did not meet those standards. Jeremy will be our coach in 2021 and I am dedicated to providing him all the available resources needed to meet our goals and standards at the University of Tennessee."

If the NCAA investigation found a fireable offense, then yes, you can fire Jeremy and not look like a liar. It's a new fact

Sounds like Pruitt is still our HC for 2021. When you look at it from the administrations standpoint it sort of makes sense.
1) TN does not really have the money to get rid of him, I know the boosters do but maybe they don't want to spend the jack to make it happen.
2) TN has been down this road several times in the past, fire a coach after a couple of years, owe him tons of money, hire a lesser coach because no one else will come here
3) This truly is only Pruitt's third full recruiting class
4) I think the administration right now is being told they cannot hire Hugh Freeze by the SEC. There is no proof of this but I just think with as many jobs as were open in the SEC this year and he did not even get an interview that I can find an article on.
a) Who else right now would TN hire as a coach that is heads above Pruitt that would not cost a fortune (back to item 1&2). My coaching wish was Urban Meyer but I knew it would never happen
5) It just looks bad for TN to be getting rid of coaches every 3 years. No good/great coach is going to come to a university that he feels does not have his back.
Thanks for all those'original' thoughts.

For the 10,000th time, the fans didn't cause this. The UT administration, Phillip Fulmer, and Jeremy Pruitt caused this. The AD has had over a decade to get UT football out of the ditch and they've failed miserably.
The fans didn't cause it but they can 1000% MAKE IT WORSE. Y'all aren't doing Tennessee any favors by bitching on the internet.

No fans don’t recruit coach or develop players but they sure do run them off by running there mouth. If you don’t like the coach or the what the program is doing then don’t let the door hit you in the butt go find another team and program to complain about.

Our fans without question make bad situations worse. Everyone knows our fanbase is toxic and it's a huge reason why we aren't able to hire proven head coaches.

So if you won't accept losing as a return on your investment then go find another team? How did that really solve anything? The coaches are not without fault and are paid very well too win games. When that doesn't happen they kinda deserve what's coming
