I have to agree. If JP is gone, no way he wastes his time traveling all the way out to California; and no way the athletic department lets him go, knowing there's a strong chance they're about the let the hammer down him. This is probably the biggest evidence to date that he's not going anywhere.

i don't really think it has any bearing on his future really. he's gotta continue with business as usual.

my guess is that if there truly is an investigation, which there appears to be, they are merely negotiating buyouts at this point with both sides playing hardball.

Tells me that they do not have the money to get rid of him and Fulmer can not convince any of the boosters to improve the program. Players jumping ship knowing this program can not help them.

However, sources tell Volquest that the current unknown from the internal investigation which has led questions surrounding Pruitt’s job security have given Henry and his family pause. In an effort to settle the To'oto'o families concerns, Pruitt and members of his staff are on their way to the west coast."

The key line, "In an effort to settle the To'oto'o families concerns, Pruitt and members of his staff are on their way to the west coast", tells us all we need to know. JP is coming back in 2021.

They have no clue how to managed a football program. Can’t even say whether Pruitt is gonna be the coach or not so they let the media and fanbase assume he’s gone

This whole thing is so dumb. Why give Pruitt a huge raise and buyout without a mitigation clause when no other team was knocking at his door to get him and the contract extension was signed in the midst of the pandemic when all Pruitt had succeeded in doing was recruit pretty well and end the prior season on an eight game win streak against mediocre competition? Why let this investigation linger with leaks (or rumored leaks) further harming the program instead of acting decisively? Why not either fire Pruitt or say that UT is standing with Pruitt and is making all necessary investments in the program to make UT a winner? We just need a clearly articulated direction and it needs to be announced stat. This whole thing is just so outlandishly clumsy and loutish. This is EXACTLY why UT football has sucked since 2005.

That is probably what Henry said as well, his upside is still very great, from an exposure standpoint, there is no reason to hang around Tennessee, there are plenty of west coast schools that show up on the Fox Network regularly and have NFL scouts in with regularity, he can sharpen his skills and techniques closer to home rather than put up with a has been head coach and a never will be current head coach, winners want to win, not just futz around under the auspices of pretenting of competing at a high level
