Figured it out. Clay is the one who got the money together and was in charge of this money scheme we are currently being investigated for.

Some of the potential coaches don't yet realize that the bags go to the players and not the coaches!

Once they do, you can probably strike Saban from the list. lol

I always thought being a faux bama booster and overtly handing out money to their recruits to get them in trouble. But if I did that then the ncaa would also want payouts as well.

Clay is very popular and has done well for himself, he hire the entire midday 180 crew on 104.5 the zone in Nashville. I can almost name two of the coaches that talked to him just because I know how close they are to him.
Do tell

I don’t know about Clay Travis but I heard Chris Low, say today that Tennessee should reach out to Mike Gundy...and he was dead serious!
I almost spit my coffee out and wrecked my beer van! He lost a little credibility with me, today.
gbo.

I don’t get the Clay nay-sayers! He is trying to expand his business and his audience. He is UT alum with a big microphone. Is he being completely honest? I don’t know. But if he is trying to compete with ESPN, why would he put his credibility on the line for this? Honestly, I think it’s more credible that a coach would reach out to someone with connections rather than Sexton or their respective agent if they were truly interested. Just my 2¢

Nobody wanted this job 3 years ago but now that we are worse than ever and under sanctions coaches are kicking down the door to get in? Get real, this guy eats poop and barks at the moon. He’s full of it.

I don't care much for Clay, but coaches do network through back channels and Clay is a fairly connected guy.

Don't know how much stock I put in this, but I don't think he's a liar.

I think Bruce Willis needs to visit Clay Travis. He hears dead people.

Did Clay go to UT? I thought he went to Vandy and George Washington. I think his grandfather played for Neyland, though.

That's my memory from his books, anyway.

Just checked wiki. I remembered correctly. He did not go to UT.

He lost just as many listeners as he gained when he decided to become the "Rush Limbaugh" of sports talk radio. Me included. He's not nearly as popular as he pretends to be. People who would gravitate to his garbage are generally pretty easily fooled though
Thanks for letting us know. 😂🙄

You know why this is a VERY appealing job to many coaches? It's an SEC school w tremendous facilities and basically recruits itself. We may be down but we are still featured nationally on Saturdays against top opponents. A good coach sees the talent we are able to attract and feels if he had a shot at coaching em up he could win and be a hero. He gets a great office....great pay in a nice town and a chance to write his own ticket if he wins. Its still a high visibility gig with tremendous upside.

Tennessee doesn't have an AD so might just be a way to get their name out there in general. It's possible they only want to use Tennessee for a raise but Tennessee does have pretty much everything you could want in a program as a coach. Other than being on a coast next to the beach, I'm not sure what else you could really want. It's time Tennessee does whatever it takes to land a proven head coach like Matt Campbell.

Yeah its not out of the question but I imagine the coaches that would that are looking for their names to be heard and their current schools to give them a raise. If they are truly interested. The search firm is who they can contact. The search firms do just that take the names and vet the candidates.
