Coach T - Keeping the Faith!

Are you saying people who don't choose to be religious are inherently bad?
YES all who are not religious shall perish. No lol, I'm saying, its worse to shove religion in others faces than it is to have no religion at all. In my opinion.

I live in the bible belt and grew up in a house where my dad was a Pastor. I get it. Theres nothing wrong with being religious or not being religious, but its annoying when its purposely shoved down the throats who choose not to be religious.

Gonna comment a little on this. It appears that WVLT, Knoxville, Channel 8 solicited these interviews from Coach T for their Keeping the Faith segments. Not only does it give good insight to him off the court but also how much his players respect him. Now this is a total guess but my bet that this is important to 90% of recruit's families and most of the recruits themselves. They want their sons to be watched over when they leave home. Prayer is very important to the majority of athletic teams.

You would really be surprised how important this would be to the parents of many recruits! To some it is just as important as the education itself!

True in my case and probably a lot more. Just had one son graduate college. He went in as a Bio major, and the department's basic viewpoint was a primary point in our decision to send $50-60K+ there over 4 years.

I would imagine that religion, especially in the south, is a gigantic win/lose for recruiting bball / football players. Helm anyone?

Thank you for seeking out CDT & doing these interviews.

It was great to be able to share them with my friends & family who have been praying for CDT & the Vols basketball team since my son joined them this fall.

As a devote Christian my heart was set on my son attending a Christian University where he would be mentored by Godly men.

Through an unexpected turn of events he ended up at UT
And it has been the absolute best place for my son. He loves Donnie Tyndall and his coaching style.

What we see on the surface does not always reveal the true character of a man.

My prayer is that CDT will be at UT for at least the next 5 years. I believe he and my son have a NCAA Championship to win!

Blessings,
Tracie Bonds

Welcome Tracie and ditto! I certainly pray that DT's tenure last through Jabari's stay at UT. And I'm praying that the NCAA makes your son eligible before SEC play! We need him!

I met Braxton at autograph session during midnight madness. I asked him if he had heard from ncaa on eligibility yet. He said not yet but keep him in our prayers. I was very impressed with him as well as all of the team. They were very humble and appreciative of the fans. Coach Tindall took time take photos with my son. I hope he is here for a long time.

Well, this is old but to the point about cussin'...sometimes you just have to get their attention.
Gettin' the Mule's Attention
Adapted by Dr. Mike Lockett, The Normal Storyteller
A long time ago a farmer wanted to buy a mule from his neighbor. He asked the neighbor if the mule had any problems.
"Not a problem," the neighbor said. "This mule will do anything you ask. All you have to do is ask him nicely." The neighbor added, "Just make sure you never mistreat my mule."
The price for the mule was fair, so the farmer bought the mule. The very next day the farmer wanted to plow his field. He hitched the mule to the plow. The mule had no intention of pulling that plow!
The farmer said, "Git up!" But the mule paid no attention. The farmer tried talking nicely until his face almost turned blue. It did no good. So, he called his neighbor over.
The neighbor came right away. When he heard the problem, he walked over and picked up a two-by-four. He hit the mule right in the head. Then he whispered in the mule's ear. That mule started plowing back and forth the field, turning the soil over without anyone standing behind the plow.
"I thought you said never to mistreat your mule," stated the farmer. "You said all that I had to do was to talk nicely to him."
"Well," answered the neighbor. "You just have to get his attention first before talking to him."

Well, just maybe God's plan is for these two young men to play four years together. Thanks to both of you for your contributions to this forum and Go, Vols!

As for my other Braxton, he just got an offer from Louisville so we all better be praying for God to intervene & bring him to UT. I love this boy as my own & truly want God's best for him. And he sure would look great in Orange!

Everyone get to praying!

SD I'm thinking Jabari, Willie, Tiriq, The Braxton duo, Detrick, SP and the other possible recruits. Wow in two years Tennessee will be the team to reckon with! All like minds to pray on this.

Please tell me you didn't spend $60K for a degree in Creationism.

I have prayed over Braxton his entire life.

He carries a Joshua mantle as a warrior and a leader.

And just like Joshua in the Bible, who was chosen by God to lead His people into the promise land, brax knows the calling on his life to lead men into victory through the power of the Holy Spirit that lives in him.

God's ways are not our ways and for that I am so grateful!

The Lord is drawing those He desires to this team and just so everyone knows :) we don't need 4 or 5 stars to win a National Championship...

JUST young men who are hungry, disciplined, committed & focused who will buy into CDT system. Those with Grit & Heart will prevail as Victores on the court & in life.

We will win a National Championship.

I believe! Do you?

This is actually meant for Tracie (Braxton Bonds' mom) and friends but I'm responding to your championship prayers for Jabari and the Braxton duo. I'll bet you it will be a snowball's chance in (fill in the blank) before Rick Pitino opens his home up to his players as is shown in the video of Donnie Tyndall and says come on over anytime you have a problem, son! That is a game changer and Braxton #2(Louisville offer) will be well aware of that I am sure with friends and family like you guys! You just tell that boy if he wants that NCAA championship he had better come and play with his best friend on Rocky Top and they can win it together! Otherwise, he may well be sitting on the outside looking in. :good!:

Yes, come to the school that's never made a final four and you'll have a better chance to win a championship than going to a school that has won 3 national championships and a coach who has won 2.

That makes a ton of sense.
