Coach Rumph confirms in speech today!!!

So some think it has no effect on recruiting? How do you know that exercising your right of free speech by calling for a coach to be fired has a positive effect?
Will blue chip recruits clamor to sign with UT because they don't know who the coach will be next year?

Just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean you should. When someone points that out to you, you shouldn't take it personal because, well, the other person has a right to say what the thinks too.
Will Blue Chip Recruits clamor to sign with UT because they think CJP will be the coach next year??? If your current coach sucks, and the fans want a change, it sounds like your fan base is solid.

Who said they weren’t lined up correctly? And no, 5 yrs isn’t very stable. It takes that long to recycle players.

This right here is not lined up correctly, if you think it is then you belong on this coaching staff. Five years is more than enough stability, after three classes a coach has enough of his players to cycle out the older non-producing ones.

Are you like a closet Vol fan??

I mean, yeah, you want Florida to go 15-0, but do you also want to see UT go 13-1?
Basically that's what I'm asking.

I'm tired of you posting all these logical and tempered designations about our football program. Because you're right, usually!
But you're a Gator!!

I keep telling people that I don’t hate Tennessee.

I don’t care what Tennessee does as long as it doesn’t hurt Florida.

We usually don’t fight over recruits. It happens, but not a lot. There’s an offensive line commit to Tennessee that Florida is trying to flip, but usually Tennessee’s success doesn’t impact Florida. Tennessee winning doesn’t prevent Florida from winning

Decoder ring included......and really cool too.

edit..........you really think the vast majority have a clue?
I don't think I'm going to judge others on their knowledge of our program, or if they are a good fan or not, anymore than I'd want them to judge me. I do believe we have a Lot of expertise- quite often, over the years, I've read some very insightful observations, and recommended fixes-where needed. In fact, I've wagered a couple of dollars over the years, based on what both experts and non-experts alike have posted. Last week was a Good week. I will say some UT Fans are among the most knowledgeable football fans in the country. But when people say things such as, "All those XXXX people are XXX", or "The Vast Majority are....." I usually find this type of labeling to be unsupportable, and not based on fact-it is almost always an emotional response.

I can probably say that fans on a message board aren't exactly a top priority to big time recruits. Actually seeing a winning product on the field I'm going to bet is a bigger concern. After watching this team, if you had a son who was a top recruit would you let him come here?

The reality is we don't know what recruits read and what effect it has. Right now it's really, really negative by a lot of posters on this site. I am trying to be on the other side of that by saying not everyone feels that way.
I personally think CJP should get 4 years minimum. Many of the players he has brought in so far are starting ahead of the older guys. All the talk about where to line up and everything doesn't bother me to much because I remember CJP saying he would rather play someone that didn't know everything that can make plays over someone that did everything perfect except make a play.
Of course I would if let my son play at UT if that is what he wanted to do. I agree that winning helps. I disagree that whining helps.

Only one way to find out. Keep him and see what happens or fire him and see what happens.
Everyone has strong opinions on this but kids want to go somewhere that they can play and where the team is unconditionally supported by the fans. Some on here are asking other's to not attend games to send a message. That's just stupid to me. That is something that will happen naturally and should not be openly called for. Luckily those that call for this are in the minority. The problem with that is is will send a message to recruits that the team is not supported. That's just another example of not doing what you have a right to do because it sends the wrong message to the players.

In a small way. He's right.
Not saying he should call out the fans publicly, but the vast majority of fans that don't have a freaking clue what they are talking about need to keep quiet on some issues (myself included). I'm not talking just about VN, but all UT social media.

It's amazing how "intelligent" some fans are when they can hide behind a computer or phone and throw rapid fire barbs at anyone and everyone. Recruits do see this, and anyone thinks it doesn't effect some recruits are nuts. I promise it effects some.

With all that being said, some of it is 100% justified. But a lot of it is pure garbage. JMO.
We can’t affect the on the field performance one iota.
The comments across the country about UT from pundits is far more ores than anything in a fan forum.
Get over it

my point proven.
wow...have a nice day as well.

You know what's hurting recruiting, a report that Fulmer is having Peyton look for a new coach, and they are not issuing a statement of denial. It would be as easy as picking up the phone, calling a media person and issuing a statement.

When I read that coaches are saying fans shouldn't speak out on social media because it is hurtng recuriting, I call B.S. Lets put this in context. Fans were not upset last year when we realized talent and develpoment were a problem. It wasnt until we saw the worst football every played at this univedrsity and what is inexplicable and unwatchable that fans and the nation began to speak out and point out that this is not a lack of talent problem. The coaches are high earners with high expectations for performance, I havent seen that they have earned their paychecks. I am expected to continue to support the vols according to coach CJP and say nothing no matter what pathetic performance I see. In each game there was a lack of effort, players were continually and almost every play out of position, execution is abysmal, and perfromance is far below expectation. Im am outraged that a coach would tell fans to shut up, and further outraged that some of our bootlicker fans would accept it in the hopes that we get better talent to solve the terrible coaching problem. Any talented kid worth his salt is going to be far more influenced by the crap on the field than enything a fan on volnation says. Those images last forever these words; who cares but a bunch of worn out fans. It other coaches are getting more mileage out of fan complaints than the excertia that CJP and coaches have shown the world, then I need to get in the coaching business since it is far easier to draw a big check and not do your job than any job I have ever had both as a coach and recuriter. This had to be approved by CJP or Rump would not say it. I may not watch another game this year since I cant say anything nice, but if I do you better beleive this VFL will speak his mind and the coaches will have to deal with it suck it up and do their job. I say stay in your lane Rump and do your job and Ill do mine.
So you think it is your JOB to bash the coaches, when you have no idea what is really going on behind closed doors. BS,You have the right to say anything yo want; regardless if you do or do not know all the facts. I do not think that is your JOB, at least I will not be paying you or giving money to anyone to pay you. It might be best got another job.

You haven’t proven anything. We don’t control the national media and right. Or they are taking UT over the coals.

You know what’s worse than fan negativity?
Coaches calling for a gag order and circling the wagons. I saw Butch do the SAME thing not long in to his tenure.

I don't think fans would be as upset if we were showing progress.

The team has actually gotten worse.

Is there an excuse for losing to Georgia State in your second season as head coach?

Absolutely not. Unless Georgia State had hired a Chris Petersen, Gary Patterson, or even a Lane Kiffin and were running roughshod over their lesser competition. But they are not. They beat Furman by 6, got their butts handed to them by Western Michigan, and lost in triple OT to Texas State. They might be slightly better than most years, but they are still who we know they are. This loss leaves a stain on all your clothes and no detergent gets it out.

Good. Get the players to sthu, block out the outside noise, and just focus on classes and what they need to do get the team/program back being remotely legitimate and competitive.

Bruh they're not even making plays. He's also not getting 4 years, if he some how manages to get a third year and puts the same crap out on the field then he'll be gone by the Bama game.

A successful coach has plenty of room to speak out and ask for certain things. He’s earned that. An unsuccessful coach needs to shut up and get to work and try to become a successful coach or he’s gonna have plenty of time to reflect on where he should’ve been spending his time.

Regardless if you agree or not. Toxic fans of any fanbase especially ours right now make recruits hit the pause button.
I agree that our fans need to take a step back on social media and likely do way more harm than good. But let's not pretend that losing to GA State and BYU at home then being non-competitive after the 1st quarter against Florida doesn't make recruits hit the pause button as well.

To have a TEAM it requires 100% commitment from all involved. IMO there has not been 100% commitment from several current players and if I'm right, then they need to move on. I have 100% confidence in Coach Pruitt and his staff, and I'm standing shoulder to shoulder with them until AD Fulmer says it's time to pull the plug. I'm old and have been a season ticket holder since 1970, so this is not my first rodeo. I'M 100% VFL
