The players aren't good enough to do what is asked of them.

Do you not find it odd that the only word used to describe how pruitt can improve the team is recruitng? Noone ever discusses his coaching ability as a manner to improve the team.....weird.

Not really. It was and still is the glaring problem with this program along with where S&C fell to.

Had he pulled off SC and or Vandy he's at 6 or 7 "but we still don't know". If he can't recruit it won't matter if he can coach.

He tried coaching our quitters this year. If you have watched him in the past he has been a success everywhere he has been. You cant coach a bunch of cream puff quitters into championship players. I get that you are not behind Pruitt. Probably not your choice for the HC job. But, he EARNED a chance and I am for one am willing to see how he does. At least he is honest, expects perfection and is not a used car salesman.

Something happened to this team after the Kentucky game. Any speculation? Doesn't it seem obvious to everyone?

I think he knows what to tell them to do. Could it be that he doesn't know how to get them to do what he tells them, or to want to do what he tells them to do? When you are trying to lead a group, it takes more than telling them what to do, it also takes getting them to do what you tell them to do. Leadership

I think he definitely lacks there and its pretty obvious. In college, he has only dealt with top level athletes in already established winning teams.

I heard on the radio ( don't know if true, but I could believe it) that during the elation of the Kentucky win, he was pointing out their mistakes. There is a time and place for this, but the wrong time and place can have negative effects. Still want to know what happened after the Kentucky game. Seems obvious to me that something happened that contributed to their performance in the following two games. I am not yet convinced he can be successful at TN, just willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at this time.

My guess is his public criticism of players didn't work out to well. Again, it should be expected that Pruitt would struggle in this area as its something he has never had to deal with. Who did he criticize by name? I can't remember a single time he called out individual players by name.

This is my concern too. Who played above their talent this year? Probably Thompson and Taylor. Maybe Phillips too I don’t know. Did the rest just fall below individual expectations? I’m not really impressed with some of the development. If they can’t play at or above their heads then this was a waste.

If Thompson and Taylor are worse in year 2 then really worry. Butch 2.0

You guys can argue Saban this.... Pruitt that all you want .... but the truth of the matter is the Vols lack a lot of ability in a lot of areas.... period

He didnt. And really the only comment I didnt like by him was the one about recruiting players....publically telling your team that you dont have hope in them isnt a good idea. I also didnt like the stopping the vol walk to preach to them. To me it was a selfish move to ganter fan support for himself. Neither really a huge deal, especially if he starts winning, im just not a big fan of that.

It's weird because the d looked good early on. The I really struggled but appeared decent once the game plans changed a bit to get the ball away from the line quickly of course we dont know all the dynamtics that led to those decisions and schemes and such.

It's just a fact that they need to recruit more good players. They went 4-8 last year and 5-7 this year. I dont see any problem with that.

You can dislike or hate this staff and you have every reason to do so, but only because of the record. Not because they had to coach a group of young men littered with quitters brought here by the past staff. It is obvious you think we had the type of winning attitudes to be better than 5-7 but I can’t for life of me understand why.... The same players went 4-8 last year with 0 SEC wins. The same players.... THERE IS A QUITING ATTITUDE THAT NEEDS TO GO! CJP will be sure that they are gone. Once he has his recruites we will ALL judge him on their results. Until then take you hate somewhere else. Please.....

We were told Dooley and Butch were doing one heck of a great job recruiting. So, I don't understand how we don't have any talent.

To me, Pruitt does not seem the type to do something like you’re saying. He seems like he couldn’t be fake if he tried... not in his DNA. It’s one thing I like about him - that seems to put some off. As someone else posted previously, at least he’s not spewing cliches and coming off like a used car salesman. Just my opinion, like you have yours.
