Not bashing, just seriously asking...

I've heard many pundits rave about his ability to recruit yet in looking at his last classes at Missouri St. I don't see where they are getting this.

He's not signed anything over a 2 star and most of his players where from either Missouri or Arkansas. Is signing two or three 2* something special for a school of Missouri State caliber? Again, seriously asking, I have no way to know. Maybe three 2*'s is a solid class for them.

Are people mainly speaking about his recruiting as an assistant while at Purdue? If so, do we know which recruits he was credited for primarily recruiting?

He just got Jones to recommit in one meeting.

Lekan Ajayi is definitely interested as is Richardson. I think he's doing pretty good so far.

Give the man some time. Have you ever been to Springfield, Missouri where Missouri State is? It's not the most awesome place to live....

He was the lead recruit on E'twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson at Purdue. He also had 2 or 3 3*s along with a 4* considering Missouri St. Go to Rivals or Scout pretty easy to lookup.

Missouri State - Mid major school. Not many 4 and 5 stars want to go to a mid-major school. He said it himself in the video on GVX that Tennessee is a different level. "You have all the tools to be successful here." To compare his recruiting classes at Mizzou State to what might be possible at UT is really ridiculous. It is really apples and oranges. I am also amazed at the big hubbub over Jones. Many on this board derided CCM over the fact that he had not visited Jones - UT was going to lose Jones. He should have gone to Memphis. Now that Jones says he still wants to come to UT - CCM is a genius. The kid may not even qualify! I just hope that CCM lays down the law on some of these prima-donna types. Pearl could not handle them. Let's just give CCM the time he needs to build and hold off on judging him before he gets started.

I completely agree, but I believe it is the best place in MO. to live, talk about a bad state, please show me the state line. I lived in MO for 3 years, talk about brutal winters!!!!

Kid's choice come live in the beauty of East Tennessee or go live in Mo., a place that makes Hell not look so bad.

in the last 4 years an average of 6 - 4 star players per year sign with a mid major progam. Most of those signing go to Gonzaga or Xavier. Mid Major schools live on 2 star players. A 2 star play can be a good player and 4 or 5 star player could be not so good. I do not have to give examples because we have some on this team.

If you're not sure whether it's bashing or just asking, don't start a thread. Good grief!!!

I've lived in Columbia and currently Southeast Kansas City. In my humble opinion both are supremely better places to live. But that's just me!

As I posted in another thread I actually thought Zo's recruiting was his weakest link at Missouri State. I think he was surprised by the difference of getting a kid to commit to Purdue vs getting a kid to come to Missouri State...granted we did shoot high but didn't win those battles. During a stretch a few years back when we had rpis in the 20's and 30's only to be left out of the NCAA tournament we actually had 7 - 3 star guys on the roster and 2 Rivals top 150 guys...we aren't BCS but we do play in an 11,000 seat arena and have a pretty good program. During Zo's time he recruited just 2 - 3 stars and they are in the current class...1 is from Springfield. Not sour grapes because I am happy for Zo and his family...just saying recruiting here wasn't anything special and we got good with some DI transfers and a couple juco gets. With that said I thought our staff did a great job of developing guys and getting them to buy in.

This is where I think CCM has an edge in recruiting

"I think Coach Martin and Chris have been down the same path, raised by single mothers, coming from tough backgrounds,'' Johnson said. "Chris needs a good leader that he respects and will be on him and show him tough love."

This is gonna play well in living rooms. . .
