Coach Martin vs. Coach Dooley (merged)

25 carries tends to get more rushing yards than 14 carries?

Tennessee ran the ball well because the QB play was pathetic therefore they ran the ball more and wanted to shorten the game. Simms could hand the ball off, he could not complete a pass to someone in orange.

Beat me to it again. You're quick.

We had the mindset to throw 40+ times/game with Bray. We knew Simms couldn't throw. We had to try to run it. The line is 1,000 times more important than the QB in the run game. We abandoned the run game. I will try to find the pass attempts for those games.

Simms 6-20
Bray 18-33

13 more attempts. UT gave Simms a good amount of opportunities to throw the ball. Just like they gave the running backs a good amount to run the ball.

Look at the ypc in games with Simms and compare it to Bray.

I hate to say this because Im a huge colts fan, not the typical manning fan, but I would like to see Wayne's stats without Manning. I mean Manning turned Stokely into a 1000 yard reciever.

There's more to a QB than just passing stats. The good ones bring a field generalship that is invaluable. They get you out of bad plays and into good ones, they bring a confidence with them. The list could go on and on.

More attempts = more chances to gain yards = higher YPC.

You don't run the ball occasionally and be good at it.

Dooley had to say Simms did something well.

Year Team GP GS Rec Yds AVG TDs
2010 IND 16 16 111 1355 12.2 6
2011 IND 16 16 75 960 12.8 4

thats a lot better than I thought. Hardly any games ever come on. I knew he had over 600, but I didn't know it was 960. Reggie Wayne is a possession reciever, not really a playmaker.

14 carries and you cant get more than 14 yards. Come on now. What about Florida? It happened in that game too and we actually rushed the ball well against Bama.

Dude just knows how to get open. I'd say he's their playmaker, Collie their possession, and Garcon their burner.

I coach high school basketball as well and I know the difference between tough love and negativity.

Then you know that some folks always see glass hlaf empty when others always see glass half full. It's human nature. Doesn't make one any less of a supporter, imo.

He is great at getting off coverage and he never drops the ball but you aren't going to see him stretch the field. That is Garcon's job. Wayne is like the automatic first down.

Bray threw the ball 48 times and Poole had 9 carries.

Supports the case that when Bray was in, our gameplan was to sling the ball around. When we struggled rushing, we abandoned the run gave and jumped on Bray's shoulders. We had to commit to the run more with Worley and Simms. They couldn't get the ball to our playmakers outside as effectively.
