Only a fool would compare two different sports when judging a coach.

CCM can't hold a candle to Serrano then, since he started out hotter, right? See how stupid that looks.

You're right. Coach Martin came into an ideal situation. Dooley is the only coach in history that doesn't have to answer for his record. You Dooley worshipers are pathetic.

Nope. How you do that is you look at the 3 coaches. 2 are doing a very good job and one is not. See, not hard.

Still better yetyou can say we have 3 different coaches. 2 have proven track records as winners and one has a track record as a loser.

CCM has done an outstanding job with the talent and situation he was given and I can't wait to see if we can continue finishing strong and make a strong NIT run, but comparing him to CDD is oranges and apples! You can't even begin to compare the two situations, nevermind you are talking about two different sports with the SEC considered top (football) and close to bottom (b-ball) with rosters and variables that are totally different. DUMB THREAD.

Too much common sense in this post to make it on VN..:)

If we were a basketball power would we be happy with a team that lost to a 12-20 Austin Peay team, a terrible Georgia team, Oakland, Pitt, College of Charleston.

It's obvious somebody doesn't watch the basketball team.

Let's just compare their first year. Dooley takes a 2-6 team to 6-6 and was screwed by a missed extra point and a bad call at the end of the Music City Bowl. His team got better as the year went along.

They didn't get hurt. They left the team early when Bruce was fired. You may remember Harris and Hopson?

faulty logic. Harris and Hopson didnt start the season then leave.:no::no::no::no::no::no:

Why do you say that? I can be happy with how the Vols are playing basketball but realize they are not a good team even though they may be good for Tennessee. Do you think we will be among the 65 teams selected for the NCAA?

This is ridiculous. I love Martin. My jury is out on Dooley but I think he can be successful. To compare football and basketball is a total joke. In basketball, if you have one good (Maymon) player, one great (Stokes) player, and a 5 role players (Tatum, McBee, Golden, etc) you can be successful. This is exactly where BasketVols are currently.

In football, if you have one good player, one great player, and a bunch of role players, you win 1 SEC game. You need a handful of good, a handful of great, and 60 role players.

Thus, it's a h3ll of a lot easier to overachieve in basketball quickly. In football, that is next to impossible. Dooley has had a chance to build his roster. Now we get a chance to see if he can win.

Comparing Dooley and Martin is the stupidest thing I've read in a long time. Let's be thrilled with Martin for what he is doing, and leave the football team out of it.
