Coach Majors approves of John Currie

Only time will tell. It seems like some people like him, others do not. He looks great on paper, but I thought this AD hire was supposed to put Tennessee first again and unify the fan base and boosters. If it is 50/50 I do not see how that is going to bring everybody together and put them on the same page. It may lead to another pissing battle between members of the administration and boosters creating a deadlock where nothing gets accomplished other then moaning and complaining.

It appears they went with the guy they thought could make the University the most money, regardless of success on the field. Sadly, if our administration is only thinking about money then it will be a long time before Tennessee is competing for championships again.

I hope Currie sees Tennessee as his dream job and gives it his all. I hope he does what is best for Tennessee and not for the administration or boosters. He should not appease people. If he puts in the work and learns from his past mistakes then we can begin to restore our program and start winning championships in all sports. I wish Currie the best and I hope he can bring Tennessee back to its glory days.

Of course he does.....Currie was prominent in the firing of Fulmer back in 2008 and now he keeps Fulmer from becoming AD. Of course he approves of Currie.....or anybody else with those two things on his resume.

He's probably just glad PF didn't get the job :eek:lol: However, I do think Mr. Currie is going to be successful as our AD, he is young and determined and I like that about him.

If there was enough dissension to keep Blackburn from getting the job, how much "unity" could we have expected? :dunno:

Not true at all. He's an AD. No recruits or players care at all about what we think. Currie will make 7 figures to do his job and for some unknown reason, will make more than his base pay for conditionally being fired (WTF?) Just lol at that part.

If you feel the need to show support for someone without need of it, choose your waitress or lawn mowing service. Someone that works just as hard for much less reward.

Currie's job performance will in no way be affected by our unconditional support. If it is, we have serious issues ahead.

I'm kinda thinking making more money would go hand in hand with success on the field. Just my opinion though.

Well I agree, but at Kansas State he turned their athletic department into one of the most profitable in the country. It had previously been operating in the negative. While he made K State extremely more profitable, was there much more success on the field?

There is no way of knowing how Currie will perform at UT. UT has many great hires in their rear view mirror. Maybe, it's a good hire but no way to tell at present.

don't really know and I am too lazy to look it up but I was able to observe what the lack of success at UTK did for income and attendance during the Dooley era and how that seems to have taken a turn for the better. And I certainly don't think that the Bammers have a cash flow problem.

The numbers for 2015 showed the VOLS as the 2nd most successful program in making money. Texas was #1 with Ala coming in at 10th. Doubt this includes donations or outside money, just earnings.

now that's an eye opener...seems like just yesterday that Hart was campaigning that we were dangerously close to broke, suspended payments to the university, talked about excess city entertainment taxation and all the while we were comparing ourselves to Bama and the other successful programs...probably a lot of shell games going on with hiding the money?

Smokey, the attendance problem actually started under Fulmer around the 02/03 season. John Adams even called the announcer out on it in a Sunday article. Claiming 100K plus in attendance but you could see 30K empty seats.

Just a reality check but do we put as much passion and uninformed purposing in the other areas of our lives as we do over our AD hire? Probably not..,

I don't know what figures you are looking at from whom but it was reported recently that Alabama football itself generated over $100 million dollars.

The financial disaster Hart took over was real. Tennessee, while in much better shape than then, is still behind practically everyone in the SEC in reserve money due to gross mismanagement. Seems with this last contract, it is continuing.
