If our LB's learn not to get trapped inside it will do wonders for the defense. A typical possession goes like this. 1st down - TFL. 2nd down - give up 5. 3rd down - lose contain and give up 15 yrds and 1st down. Rinse and repeat. Consistency is something we need to find.

The LBs played better in run support vs Kentucky. Pass defense was work on the back 7. Then again we had a lack of sacks too.

We are undersized at DT, slow to react at S, and thin at CB. Those things can’t be fixed mid season

Unfair to banks is losing the best player at his position in college football and another likely nfl corner… that being said safety play is the biggest weakness on defense and that’s his position… I do like that the defense is opportunistic at least and it would look significantly better with 3 1… losing jakobe might turn out as the biggest loss of all.. he would be head and shoulders the best safety on this team.. I don’t think the defense is necessarily “fixable” but it can absolutely improve situationally.. we will see how the season finishes out..
