Same can be said of the Kentucky game. Both were a gnats eyelash from a loss. Difference I see now than in the last couple of years....there was time when you just knew the catastrophe was immanent and (like the BYU game) and it was just a matter of time before we shot ourselves in the foot and lost the game. At least now, we have not let that happen in a while. . Hopefully JG's bama fumble was some sort of low water mark.

this is a “rat poison” type statement in the world of Saban where Pruitt came from. Do you want a winning attitude (like Saban) or I’m okay you’re okay public personality like Butch had?

These players and recruits want to win and winners want to be coached and pushed, not out in a safe space.

Just my two cents and experience in playing the game.

Maybe that’s true, but I truly believe that this team needed to lose the first two games as a wake up call. I know it’s crazy but to me it seems to be the case

This is false. He had plenty of positive to say. He wasn’t negative, he was realistic.

So he wasn’t very positive. I was excited for the win and the team especially JG. I’ll take the win although it wasn’t pretty. I hope they have a better game next week, big win on a positive note. Then all can celebrate!! Everyone wanted a willing coach, now it seems some want that coach to also be a great public relations guy. Have you ever listen to some of Steve Spurrier’s post game comments. We will need to chill out and celebrate the road win. GO VOLS

And I'll go one step further. JG's wake up call happened on the one yard line in Tuscaloosa.

It's been an interesting season for sure. The mood swings of this message board are a testament to that.

I just watched the game again and as CJP finished his interview coming off the field and being circumspect about the performace, one of the announcers said something attributing it to the inevitable phone call from his football coach father. It makes sense now that I think about that. His post games are probably like his conversations with Dad. (Without any snippiness)

Yes, we outgained Missouri by almost 250 yards of total offense (526 to 280) and absolutely gutted their vaunted defense, particularly through the air, but managed to win by only four points, thanks in part to two blocked field goal attempts and a drive-stopping fumble. Pruitt was simply demonstrating his perfectionism through those initial remarks.

Two thoughts:
1) it’s his schtick - when the reporter called him on it, he had a sheepish grin that implied he was kinda happy about the win
2) I think he realizes how rare it is for a team to play up to their potential and would like to show everyone what is possible when they do

If you’re satisfied to become bowl eligible that’s all you’re ever gonna be. This wasn’t the end of the season. We still have one game left versus our instate rival who has kicked our ass way too often lately. Hopefully we won’t have another 4th quarter nail biter and we can give our seniors a proper send off by packing Neyland.
