Did anyone watch the postgame interview right after the game? Even with a big win like this which gets us bowl eligible, JG has a big passing game, 3 100 yard receivers...CJP is still so negative and the only thing he could say is the team didn't play smart and he just focused on all the negative aspects. Even the interviewer sarcastically had to get CJP to acknowledge all the good that happened in thus game...even after this, CJP still just focused on all the mistakes and couldn't enjoy the positives!! I think he should lighten up a little bit. Take some cues from positive coaches like PJ Fleck for example

I like how Pruitt responded. He was right, we screwed up a lot. There is always room for improvement. Nothing wrong with stating that honestly imo.

I would be like Pruitt on this one. We should have been up by 3 scores but we just kept making mistakes. Mizzou was in that game only because we kept opening the door for them. We were lucky to win that game after the mistakes we made which proves how bad Mizzou really was.

I totally agree with you and I hope for his children's sakes he is more encouraging at home as a father. Some may see it as tough love, but coming from a psychological standpoint, to never give praise when praise is due is not how you get the best performance out of someone.

It's called being a good football coach. How he acts in front of the media is one thing and I guarantee you it's not how he reacted after the game with the team. Saban barely cracks a smile lifting a National Championship trophy. It's how good coaches are.

I like his realistic approach. He's a football coach, not a sunshine pumping fan. Right after the game his veins are still pumping in coaching mode. He didn't have time to reflect and look at the stats. His focus is and should be on what they didn't do right. That's his job. He probably had no clue that 3 receivers went over 100 yards each. He probably had no idea JG threw for over 400 yards. He was concerned about the blocked FGs and the costly penalties and he should have been. He's just doing his job and it's refreshing to finally see a UT coach actually coach.

Excellent post! There will always be things that need to be improved on if we want to continue to climb to the next level. I am happy that CJP didn’t act like it was a perfect game and pointed out where we need to get better.

We could have lost the game to some sloppiness. He needs his team to have a few hours of celebration and then go clean up some mistakes.

While Vandy is a dumpster fire, they did beat Mizzou 21-14. So we can't afford to keep making unforced mistakes or missed assignments and leaving 13 points on the field due to blocked FGs and fumbles.

Nearly double them in yardage, played awful special teams, Missouri hadnt scored a TD in 31 tries, yet only scored 24 and only won by 4. UT could have easily lost and tried to give the game away even. I think Pruitt was essentially letting us know the team was tons better than they showed.

What? So you were happy with penalty's, blocked field goals, missed assignments, etc...? GTFO
Coach Pruitt knows this team is capable of much better and some snot nosed reporter is not going to tell him otherwise. Great response by him on that question.

Didn’t bother me in the least. My dad was a very successful high school football coach. Whenever they won, we’d say the boys looked good. He would say we have so much work to do, mistakes, stupid moves, etc. When they would lose, we’d say they looked awful, blah blah. He would say, no, i saw improvement here, so and so had a great game. My poor mother, 33 years of this!
