Coach Inge on Edwin Spillman

You’re taking it waaay to far.

Spillman will be All-SEC this season.
I don’t see Telander being able to play over him, yet we need 5-6 good LBs.
My guess is that Telander is the starter vs. Syracuse, but Spillman plays as much if not more. I think Spillman eventually ends up playing more than Telander. Whether that means he’s listed as the starter is another matter. UT loves naming co-starters at half the positions all season long.

Regardless, we need at least 4 good LBs who will rotate, so Telander needs to improve from last season and we need one (if not more) of Burns, Harmon, and Perlotte to step to. My money is on Harmon.

I’m sure they’ll rotate, but we luckily have one team on our schedule that is even close to OSU last year.
They will rotate. I was implying that we need more speed specifically for the playoffs, and those quality type teams that are possible opponents…though probably not making it this year.

Georgia and maybe Alabama are two I see as comparable in the regular season, though our goal should always be to make the playoffs and play more than that. I don’t see avoiding the playoffs and tough opponents as lucky. Ideally, we should be prepared to play any opponent, and have enough speed to win! GBO

Playoffs? If this team makes the playoffs we can worry about that then, but I think that’s a little ambitious.

I still think Telander will be the starter for the entire season. He has a lot of experience and is a leader alongside A. Carter. Spillman will still get tons of work as the 3rd guy.

I expect A. Carter to jump to the NFL after this season, with Telander and Spillman as the guys next season. Another formidable pair

I really hope Telander has improved his ability to play in space. It’s hard to improve athleticism, but you can improve recognition.
I'm convinced great Linebackers are born. Don 't get me wrong a really good player can develop his skills at LB but the really great ones don't need keys and and reads. When that ball is snapped, they just know where the play is going based on how God put them together.
