Coach has a big chance to turn...

Hatred started with TT asking JG to talk to recruit about not coming to UT.

On the other side, a current UT player was talking for his ex coach... strong ties there!

yeah there are more than a few who are against bringing in TT

Who? The fans? You got some inside info? If not, it doesn't matter if the 10 people you asked about TT want him or not. If he is cleared by the NCAA, I say we get him. It's a cutthroat league, and we tried the win the 'right' way method. Time to get someone in here to get the big fish to commit to UT and let CBJ do some work.

Haha, some people whine no matter what.

this is true. I guess I should have said it will be greatly reduced. See the basketball coversations over the last week or so. If we happen to beat UF tonight, the whining will be further reduced.....at least relating to CCM and some of the players.

Jancek and Martinez were both DC's at UGA. Thigpen has been a top recruiter at two different bcs schools.

If anything, our coaches have more experience(besides Mattison of course).

jancek was co DC for what a half a season. martinez i think was DC for 4 or 5 seasons before he was fired. i like assistant coaches that are proven recruiters. thigpen is by far the best on the staff, graham was second.

Borges was only a coordinator for 3 years and "resigned" because of the lack of offensive production after his first season with Cadillac, brown, and Jason Campbell. Azzani and Martinez are both better recruiters than graham.

Martinez's contribution to this last class has been for the most part overlooked. He came in and in a couple of weeks rounded out the secondary including locking down some EEs. He was done before the rest of the staff had had a chance to get started.

Why the manning hate? All I know about him is that he's young, and played pretty recently.. He could turn into a big time recruiter being so young and relating to the kids.

Yep. Guys got a good rep as an up and comer.

Martinez has the reputation as a first rate DB coach, a huge upgrade imo. I'm hoping that our secondary will be respectable this year, perhaps even damn good. And like you said, if he can bring in a couple of good players in two weeks, I'm thinking that he will recruit elite talent in the next class.

yes the fans since that's what the discussion was about. TT was a cancer the last time he was in Knoxville and I'd say he should stay away. There must be a reason he's never gotten above position coach

Lol. As if the fans have any say in who the staff will hire. So I get it, take it as nothing more than message board fodder.

What exactly did Troop do at UT that constituted him as a cancer? I remember him wanting the OC job. Fulmer went with Clawson, and Troop left for Okie State. Don't really remember the fans referring to Troop as a cancer until us losing Gabe Wright To Auburn. Curious to hear what other examples you've got.

And I don't really understand the point of the last statement. I mean, the only spot we are filling is for a position coach.
