Coach Fulmer being selfish??

Of course he's being selfish--and very delusional. For one thing, he knows this job is it for him--he's done as a coach after UT--and he apparently wants to keep working. He also wants to keep making $2 million plus a year. He also wants to go out on top, I'm sure, and believes that he can return UT to prominence, even though it's obvious that he can't. He thinks he's bigger than the program--and he's not. That's what these administrators at UT and pa. state and fla. state fail to realize.

Two things Armchair. . .One, IMO Fulmer does not think he's bigger than the program. . .he's a very competetive person who has faith in his ability to turn things around. I for one, would want him gone immediately if he didn't think that way!

Two, when was the last time you looked at Paterno and PSU??? #3. . .Hello!

For $6,000,000 I would be super selfish as well!....Seriously, your going to have to pay the man to get him out of there as there is NO WAY he is going to give up that kind of cash.

Selfish? Yes, absolutely. Not that it's right, but it's understandable. He's making 2+mil/year and doesn't want to lose that income. He understands that his chances of getting another college coaching job is close to nil if he leaves the program in shambles. He might entertain the thought of leaving, but not before he feels like he can get a comparable deal (and a comparable program) somewhere else.

One more teensy little thing. Fulmer is not Joe Paterno and is not playing in a conference with only one capable football team.

I don't blame Phil for his Big Orange Parachute...but it has hurt him in the eyes of the fans.

I think we should pay him some sort of severance (if it comes to that) whether he resigns or is fired. Goodwill gestures send good messages to other candidates.

To answer your question, yes.

If he really loves this program, he would let someone else take over so we can start winning again. I was at a wedding today, getting play by play via phone, and I could just tell how conservative and soft we were playing. The same sh*t the past 7-8 years. To me, it has already gotten ugly. Fulmer has screwed the program up, recruits are de-commiting

P.S. 1000th post pimpin

I only quote this because I see the edit from LIO. Are you seriously going around and editing all the Phil fat jokes? I mean I usually do not go there about our coach but don't you have anything better to do?

There is no doubt that Fulmer is being selfish, he knows that he cant coach. I mean we have a losing record against top 25 teams at home over the last seven years, and we dont have a National Title or SEC Title in ten years. Fulmer knows his best days have past him but he is refusing to retire.

Fulmer said on a sports show last night that he wants to win another national championship before he retires. Guess what? This guy is not concerned about the future of UT football,or the fans. He has his own agenda, and it's unrealistic.

I want to win the lottery too. Like the old saying goes put want in one hand and sh** in the other and see which one fills up first. He has to be able to at least beat Florida for any chance of a NC.

the more i read about fulmers comments the more i find hes so out of touch with reality.
he is living in a very dilussional little phil world. i would say the stress and toll of "coaching" i use that term loosely, since he cant do that any more. will get him health wise also, i wish nothing bad on the man, but from all the bad thats going on i think i know wheres hes headed.

Well, not only is it technically against board rules, but it is moronic. It does not strengthen the argument of the poster to include some played out krispy kreme or fat joke. It simply makes them look stupid. The same goes for the "Chumpton" and "Crapton" contingent. Thanks for your concern.

And if you really are then half the posts on this board in the last week need to be edited.
Like emptying the ocean with an eyedropper.
