Coach Doug Mathews On Now

I'm afraid of Butch's loyalty. Up to this point, he has been successful with his main staff.

When you can't fire someone, what do you do? You leave to another program/company. With Michigan opening up, if Butch goes there it's because he's not the type to fire his buddy when needed to save his own job.

I like Butch but Michigan isn't hiring him. Recruiting isn't the problem there.

I agree our defense is improving greatly as is our special teams. Unfortunately nothing else is. I just want Mahoney and Bajakian fired. I really like Butch

Those are his guys that came in with him, I don't see them going anywhere unless Butch makes that call himself, and he's not going to do that until he has a roster full of only the players that they recruited until then he will give them a pass.

Michigan isn't hiring BJ but they can sure have Bajakian and Mahoney. Those 2 will cost BJ his job if he remains loyal to them. The thing is I like BJ but so far Im not impressed with his offense at all.

I try to stay in the middle. I'm not happy today, but when watching the defense this year, regardless if ga or fla isn't good, it gives me hope. If they can improve that side from being one of the worst in college ball a couple years ago, surely they can do the same thing on the offensive side somehow.

I think Dobbs in this offense next year with all wr's back, all TE's back, more upgrades at RB and a young OL bringing back 4, could look pretty good. People are too hard on him for last year. He, as most 18 yr olds, should've never been on the field.

Quality post, sir. :good!: :hi:

by the looks of things so far BJ will not have that luxury if things keeps going south and so far its going pretty fast because the offense is not even improving at all.

If Jone's pt. average in SEC games the last 2 yrs. holds up he won't win many even with the best defense in the country.

Bingo! Absolutely no progress on the O Line, and we are six week thru the season! He took our supposed strength last year and disappointed us. The OC and O Line coaches are a major issue right now.

I wonder if Dave Clawson wants another stab at it?

Changing schemes and starting over sounds like a great plan.

Not only will we have little depth and talent, we'll also have confused players in a first year scheme.

Good plan.

If you hadn't already recognized this like over a year ago, that is your problem. This is why, for all of us who have been realistically looking ahead, we have circled 2016 as the year we get consistently good.

These roster shortcomings are not Butch's doing. You can blame Dooley for the deficiencies in the roster, especially the O line.

Dooley didn't come up with that pathetic game plan yesterday!!!!! Enough talent on the field to win that game yesterday...throwing on first down after our INT was STUPID, STUPID, STUPID.....Worley made a stupid play, but the OC called the play to put him in that position.....

Why not a reverse, counter, screen, or something else....absolutely pathetic job by offensive coaches....

Dobbs will be better next year....and a real threat to keep the ball......HOWEVER--my recommendations would be to have our offensive coaches take a trip to both Seattle and Philadelphia in the offseason to learn how to run an effective offensive system that would be within their philosophy--but learn how to actually make it work in the SEC....

:salute:

Coach Mathews says game plan did not change in the 3rd quarter. Turn over in their scoring zone killed us. Only thing Offensive coaches should have been coaching then was not to turn the ball over when up by two scores. Should have just ran it and punted. Bad coaching here. Pass play should have never been called. Needed to slow it down.

What?? a coach that knows football is saying the same thing that non coaches on VN is saying.. No way we r all idiots for saying this.. Sunshine sheep take note.. People in the know are seeing the same thing. Maybe we know some foolsball..lol

Bottom line bad off coaching n we all know it..

Well I hate to agree but I agree. Loyalty is great but Bajakian is not ready for big boy football and Mahoney well the proof is in the pudding. True freshman yes but damn show some effort at least.

I've got a feeling Dave Hart will make this decision for him. And that way Butch can save face w/Bajakian and Mahoney. But BuTch better get this hire right or he'll be next.

I hate to keep bringing it up but Mathews is right. The pass calls on 2nd and short absolutely cost us the game. All we had to do is protect the ball and eat clock. Stupid.

Another point about that is that when we inserted Young at the beginning of the second half we were able to run wide and get 5 yards a pop. There were even some cut back lanes made by stretching Florida's defense. For some unholy reason we went away from it and never went back except for one call when Hurd came back in the game. He took the cut back and picked up 5 yards. Never saw it again.

The irony here is that the best coaching staff in America got beat by the worst coaching staff in America. Go figure!

I've been told that after adding all that muscle Dobbs is have serious issues with his accuracy. I hope he gets that straitened out or we are going to have a freshmen QB
We've had some freshman come in and do well at QB in the past but it's not an ideal situation.

I've heard from a couple different sources, latest being Daniel Lewis of RTI, that Dobbs has really improved his velocity and accuracy based on what he's seen this fall. We desperately need him to take a giant step forward and be a very good, reliable SEC qb in case Worley gets injured this year, and then to be the starter next year. If he can improve his throwing and decision-making his skill set is a great match for this offense imo.

Peterman could fool me and step up and become great. I don't expect that. Dobbs has not looked good in the past but has had moments where it looked like he could get it done. A guy in the system for some time is almost always better than a freshmen.

I hope we see one of the backups for meaningful time Vs. UTC.

excuse me if I don't worship at the alter of a washed up coach that still harbors massive grudges towards UT since CPF left

U serious. Face it this is not the best staff n america..

You took that comment about the staff literally? Wow. Regardless of what you think, Matthews is not some great coach who was so successful that his words should be taken as the gospel.

Oh I agree but he knows the game n is better respected in the coaching circles was my point.. N that he is seeing the same thing n plays should have been adjusted.
