Coach Dooley was criticized

Earn your stripes, SGM has been around for a while. He can say what he feels..

so can anyone else on this board and length of membership or number of posts has no bearing on that. Of course if you want to pull the rank card based on those 2 items just let me know

We are still in the rear view mirrow of several SEC East teams, but you can see that octane (new recruits) beginning to kick in. Still another year away. Hoping for marked improvement on the field from the players and the Coaches. The Coaching staff will be looked at more closely this season. Have we corrected mistakes from last season (LSU/UNC)?

Dooley is building a championship program out of nothing. The longer we get into his tenure the easier it is for the fanbase to forget what it started out like. He needs to go 7-5 this year at least just to keep the restless fans at bay because I still think it will take 4 years for him to have a championship season. I think 2012 will be great but I think by 2013 he will have turned us back into a true SEC power year in and year out.

If the fans give him that time, without running him out of town or causing him to leave for another school...we have a good future with Dooley as our coach.

I am certain of it.

If we beat Florida, we will not be 7-5. Everyone expecting a big year in 2011 should also be expecting some very strong play during the second half of this season.

Horse****. Just because he's been around doesn't mean folks have to like his posts. I see his posts and then I laugh but whatever floats your boat.

I think CDD has done a good job of steadying the ship and getting it headed in the right direction.
:ermm:You missed the point that sgm was making. He was talking to the poster who said "At least he(Dooley) will leave the program in better shape." I think sgm was saying Dooley will do more than leave the program in better shape.

I wasn't a big fan of the hire at the time, but he's an extremely likable guy and was an on-field mishap and an NCAA rulebook fail from taking the least-talented team in UT history to an eight-win season.

I'm looking for some strong play in the second half of games.

With last years lack of depth, it was tough. I'm hoping that with the increased depth at SOME of the postions, we'll do much better.

p.s. i do like Da Dooley

I have to admitt I didn't know who Dooley was when he got hired. He immediatly struck me as professional, articulate, and honest. I have always liked him since and he growes on me daily. I think he comes from a good pedigree with his dad and he learned from the best in Saban...even if he is the enemy... It seems he is on the right path to getting on top again. Worst case scenerio is he gets our talent level and character up as a team for the next guy. Best case is he goes on to be a National Championship type coach. Only time will tell. Remember our problems started several years ago and we shouldn't expect them fixed overnight. We are pointed the right way though.

If you beat Bama it will be a signature win. If you beat Florida it will be as well unless they are only 7-5 or so. I think your big win will have to be a top 10 team..LSU, Bama, etc.
Dont get me wrong if UT beat the gators that is a good win, but at the end of the year UF is middle of the road and UT is only 7-5, I do not think much was accomplished by fans standards but if you see immprovement it will still be good overall. Wins and loses dont always make a successful season. Getting better does.

Do alot of TN. fans go to bama sites? Do you know anything about winning in the swamp?

Born and bleed UT orange, FSU alumni...I know plenty about winning (losing) in the Swamp--mainly, its not easy and rather unpleasant.
A win in the Swamp is always something to be proud of-screw records

Florida is down, Tennessee is down. Level playing field in my eyes and if we beat them in their house, it's a good win, signature even, for 2011.

Surprised to say that it worries me some to watch vid of our practices and see the players standing around so much, dropping passes and so on. The Florida players practice like a team in a game they're out to win. Seeing that made me wonder if we might be in for a disappointment.

No way SGM would be caught dead saying such a thing.

What he was saying was that if the fan's goal was for Dooley to leave the program better than he got it, than the fan's goal (bar) was not set very high. On that he is right.

Off topic, but I just noticed the original poster's sig.

Nice Clutch reference! Big fan of the early stuff myself.
