when he first got here for not creating a buzz. He and his staff went quietly on about their business and by god he has got some excitement back on the hill, the right way. There is a lot left to be seen with the upcoming season(s), but I can't help but feel confident in ol' Coach Dooley and his staff.

What is there left to say other than...

GO VOLS !!!

I was hopeful when we hired him.
Yeah, his overall record isn't great, but looking past that, knowing that he's part of the Saban tree (like it or not) and that he was also the AD at LaTech.

I'm not ready to crown him COY yet, but he's made bigger strides over the last two years for our program than what had been done the previous six.

I'm definitely glad to have him. CDD is the complete package, and this was a golden hire.

I'm still in wait and see mode, but I now feel like at the very least he'll leave the program in better shape then he found it.

Hard to create a buzz when you are eating a **** sandwich left by others. Besides, the last guy that went the buzz route didn't work out so well

But I hear what you are saying OP

He needs a signature win or two this season. Even at 7 or so wins, he absolutely must beat a decent rival this year.

Well, in order to get 7 wins, he pretty much has to beat a decent rival, unless somebody tanks. And if Florida is the one tanking, I'm pretty sure it still counts as a signature win.

Agree. Gator fans are already trying to downplay that game. Like if somehow UT wins, it won't mean anything--WRONG. Beating Florida, in the swamp, after losing to them for the last however many years will most definitely be a signature win. Perhaps that's more indicative of how low the program has slipped, but any win or combination of wins over Georgia, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, or SC will be that "next step". The other 6 games on the schedule are must wins. No question about it.

Even saying UT has the potiental of beating any of the big 6, is a vast improvement over the last year or two.

Why do you constantly post here? Seriously, you're the most pessimistic son of a ***** alive. Go somewhere else with your bs dude. It's getting pretty old.

Earn your stripes, SGM has been around for a while. He can say what he feels..

Definitely more optimism than anyone expected for this year. From the get-go, 2011 was circled as possibly being even more challenging than his first year. Now considering they haven't stepped out onto the field yet, that could still be the case. But it is SLIGHTLY comforting to see CDD not reduced to tears in his daily, post practice interviews.

This pretty much sums it up.

Yeah I agree, last year Dooley had complaints about his football team after every practice. This year, it seems, he tries to down play a little, but he sure as hell isn't saying the O or D is pathetic. I really think he must see he has something to work with or he would still be grumping his team.

Horse****. Just because he's been around doesn't mean folks have to like his posts. I see his posts and then I laugh but whatever floats your boat.

I think CDD has done a good job of steadying the ship and getting it headed in the right direction.

Even with the depth issues and the youth and and everything else that I could point out that could potentially make this season a big s**t storm, I'm not that worried. Coach Dooley is doing what he said he would do so far, and that is revitalizing what Tennessee football stands for...excellence.

If you beat Bama it will be a signature win. If you beat Florida it will be as well unless they are only 7-5 or so. I think your big win will have to be a top 10 team..LSU, Bama, etc.
Dont get me wrong if UT beat the gators that is a good win, but at the end of the year UF is middle of the road and UT is only 7-5, I do not think much was accomplished by fans standards but if you see immprovement it will still be good overall. Wins and loses dont always make a successful season. Getting better does.

Florida is down, Tennessee is down. Level playing field in my eyes and if we beat them in their house, it's a good win, signature even, for 2011.
