Coach Caldwell on the Defensive Ends

Yeah, he might not be at Cal, but as soon as the knee is 100%, yes.

It's weird that the coaches say out loud that Wilson, Davis, and Thompson are ready right now. Chavis has a vision for LBs and it works.

I have a question was Donald's 4.5 time not legit? I mean is he just not that football fast or what? I ask because it seems people were inferring he might be too slow for MLB.
And I think the comment regarding McCoy sliding over is what would happen, so Wilson may be the back up but if a serious injury struck Mayo, the McCoy logic seemed sound to me.

he's pretty fast. Look at his film on rivals.

Good news to hear of progress on the end spot. No better way to shut down a potent passing offense than to hurry the QB and disrupt his rhythm. It doesn't matter how fast the wideouts are if they can't even get the ball thrown their way.

I like our chances against Cal much more if we can force them to shift to an inside run and screen game.

I agree 100% with that scenario, and hope it plays out that way I want to see Longshore scrambling around in the backfield throwing incompletes or getting sacked not dumping it off to the receivers

lacrossepro70,

Just curious...

Where are you getting your information? Chris played both DE & LB in high school. No, he was not the #1 LB in the country nor was he the #1 DE in the country coming out of high school...not even close. However, he played both in high school. In fact, he spent most of his senior year at DE. As for who's bigger, stronger, faster....Dorthy, we're not in Kansas anymore! This is the SEC! Chris Walker knows that. Obviously, he has peeked Coach Caldwell's interest because he would otherwise still be buried in the depth chart at LB. He could very well be buried in the depth chart at DE but he is at least getting a look...they both are. I think we should all wait & see how it all plays out. The common goal is to win at least one SEC CHAMPIONSHIP & before the Chrises leave Knoxville, A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!

GBO:yes:

I believe he was referring to Chris Donald being the #1 LB not Chris Walker.

Coach Caldwell was quoted in an AP article yesterday as saying that he wished he had a real DE to work with like Rulon Davis. "Davis is a star-in-the-making, and a heck of a soldier", Caldwell remarked, "He's gonna topple Ainge just like he did that statue of Saddam in Bagdad."

He's going to have to use ropes and and a jeep to topple Ainge? Jeez...I think that I'll stick with Reynolds and Mitchell in that case....

In Donalds defense he was hurt with a knee or ankle injury ,couldn't find the archives, but this kid is going to be another monster on D,that is why you see Walker ahead of him;for the present.
