Coach Barnes and Coach Hardaway interaction after game

Article I read said that Penny apologized after the game about last years comments of his and how he felt bad after he read what he said later on. I think him and Barnes are ok with where they are at. It's seems to be much of the TN fan base that wants them to despise each other because of their dislike for Penny. It's not healthy to carry around that kind of dislike and distaste for someone. JS.

Penny loves Vols rivalry, but Barnes noncommittal

"Tennessee's fans made their feelings toward Hardaway known and he said after the game it was the most he has been booed since returning to Orlando as a visiting player after spending his first six seasons with the Magic. And he understands their ire after his comments last season.
'When I read those statements today, it kind of made me cringe a little bit,' he said. '... So I kind of understood what was going to happen, because I felt like it got misunderstood, but then when I read it, it wasn't a good look, and (Barnes) and I talked about it a little bit at half court, and, you know, that will never happen again.'
After Saturday's win, Hardaway apologized for his comments and implied he hopes they're not the reason the series might end after next year."

Will they're ever be a way for us to rely on a consistent scorer this season? No!

Our best shot this season is to imitate VA's style of play.....put every single shred of effort, energy, passion into playing defense and slowing the game down....and just hope we dont have a bad shooting game

Odd. I see someone saying he apologized but never an actual quote from him apologizing.
Yeah I don't see an exact quote either, but I doubt the writer would make it up. You can sense, from the comments that are mentioned in the article, that Penny seems fairly repentant about what he said last year.

Barnes wouldn't let go of Penny's hand during their pre-game handshake, spoke to him for several seconds with his other hand on Penny's shoulder, and he was smiling the entire time. During the post-game radio show Barnes said that Memphis was well coached while Penny was sitting courtside 40' away doing his own radio show. But CRB says that EVERY opponent is "well coached".

Growing up in memphis as a UT fan is and was tough. On one side I had my grandfather who took me to breakfast at my grandmothers restaurant to meet the 94-97 teams, it was incredible/ on the other side I had an Uncle who sat me on his lap for many UT games and that’s why I’m a UT fan all the way. I have great respect for Memphis but Oenny has instilled a thug mentality into his team and fan base, no respect anywhere. It’s sickening what I deal with.
They win by 4, my coworkers, neighbors, random strangers in gas stations let me have it, it doesn’t bother me much but dam.
NCAA will bring the hammer down if Memphis goes far in the Tournament, it doesn’t bother me at all. I hate for the Wiseman kid.
But when you have current star players tweeting “First 48” with shooting emojis and stuff and repeating what criminal rappers say, they’re proud to be in a town with horrible leadership and politics, Pray for this city.
Go Big Orange.

I'm already looking forward to game three in Nashville another big one with reinforcements coming for the Vols. Hopefully we'll all stay safe and healthy to see the rubber match next season.

I hope we drop the series after that game. Nothing to be gained by playing them.

Would like to see us sign a 10-year deal to play North Carolina rotating home/away

Penny from 24/7

ON THE FUTURE OF THE TENNESSEE-MEMPHIS SERIES
“I would love to keep it going. Like I said, it just got out of hand last year. I’ve always had respect for Coach Barnes. It just kind of got out of hand last year after it was over and I can take credit for my part..."

That's mighty big of him to "take credit for his part". Hey putz, your part was THE part.

So why include a bunch of quotes from Penny but not the one where he actually apologizes?

No...Barnes called Memphis a bunch of floppers last year. Hardaway was just standing up for his kids. Any coach would do the same.

After the game last year ESPN put together a highlight reel that showcased just how comical the flopping by Memphis was. Did Barnes say that the Memphis "kids" were "a bunch of floppers"? Please link that quote.

Barnes' comments were much more diplomatic than you are leading on.

On his radio show Monday, Vol Calls on WNML, Barnes said: "It was a very difficult game to call when guys are trying to pick up fouls and every time there's contact jumping back and this and that."

He just doesn't believe, won't admit, or is too intellectually challenged to think any of this is his fault.

Exactly. Funny how this gets out of hand by Memphis apologists who continually pose as UT fans.
