CLK's "future shock," or "I,am curious orange"

One of the biggest shocks will be when he leads that team through the T for the first time. I really do not think that he has a clue as to how pumped up that stadium will be at that time.

I agree, CLK may think he knows what it will be like leading his team through the "T" for the first time but I really think he is going to be shocked.

I'm getting jacked up just thinking about it.....Go Vols!!!

His biggest surprise will be how fast he gets annoyed with the phrase "I'll hang up and listen".

He will be surprised that Kentucky and Vanderbilt fans still care so much about football despite losing to us over and over and over and over.

He will be surprised at the hatred from UF and Alabama and UGA fans. USC being hated by UCLA and Cal and Oregon just is not the same. A lot less weed smoked here on gameday and a lot more whiskey consumed.

Just like every new coach in the SEC that has no experience in this conference, he will be surprised at how fast and well-coached the defenses are in this league.

I don't know how much will really surprise him. I mean after being in that circus called the raiders organization, i'd imagine he's prepared for just about anything.

Grade school response
Posted via VolNation Mobile

it was not a grade school response. it was an honest answer.

you can't tell me that kiffin thought with the exception of eric berry and rico mccoy, that the best players on the team would be the freshman he signed.

i do think he thought there would be more at tennessee than there is.

i don't think he thought he would have to run off 11 players before the season started and who knows how many more will transfer before the start of the 2010 season.

i don't think he thought the rebuilding job would be as big as it is.

I think CLK will be shocked at how fast the Gators can and will jump out in front as they have in the past. They get a few plays goin their way and they are brilliant at how they dominate and talk smack and posture, in tandem with leinient officials this can be and has been a huge moment shifter. I hope beyond hope he has watched film, and has realized this is a factor he will have to counter.

Yeah, you're right. The man is a tireless worker, and believes in preparation to the point that he wowed Hamilton at his first interview with a detailed recruiting plan that he'd already drawn up, but he probably didn't bother to find out anything about the job he was interviewing for beforehand. Or to, you know, turn on the TV and watch any of our games while he was trying to get the job. He probably went into it totally blind.

I would have said how closely the fans and the media watch and report and comment on every word you say, but I think he's already figured that one out by now.

So at this point, I'd say his next rude awakening is the difference in the fan devotion as between the SEC and the PAC-10.

The collective IQ on Vol Calls.

OMG that was so terrible and embarrassing. There was like one good question the others I knew exactly what he would respond with (and asking myself how did the callers not?).

But I think he will say, "Yeah the SEC is different. Alot more than I expected."

He doesnt know how the SEC really is. At least he had a taste of it at USC. They may have not have played against a great conference but I think USC would fit in with the SEC, unlike OSU and the Big12 teams. The defenses are the definition of SEC. But hes not stupid, he knows Florida is great and how well Bama is doing despite being young and how much talent is there and at LSU and UGA too. He believes talent as huge so he knows the other teams are good.

Kiffin knows, he just doesnt know. There is a difference. The Bible said Adam KNEW his wife Eve and they bore a son... :D

...and I think you are right on target.

I also think the "speed" of the SEC will be an adjustment as well as the schedule...no let up in the SEC, they all play their butts off...not so sure this was the case in PAC 10.

Appreciate all responses, don't understand some of them, but that's OK.

If you've spent almost your entire adult life in California, fielding calls on Vol Calls has got to be a shock. He's got to be astonished that some of these peoples even have radios.

Well, the man did just come from the NFL.

Don't let Houston Nutt read this post!

I don't think the speed of the defense or the well coached defenses will catch him off guard. He did just come from the highest level of football, so that should be no suprise. However the passion and intensity of SEC football, players and fans alike, will be something he has never seen.
