CLK vindicated---PTI slams officials

The LSU call was horrible. You could see the toe marks clearly inside the line. Absolutely horrible. ARK got screwed more than we did. They gave that game to UF. LSUs fate was sealed when they didnt make the call on the interception. We got screwed constantly.

divot--inside the line--on the LSU interception, and if I'm not mistaken there were two. And you only need one in-bounds, correct? You could see his toes digging up the turf on the slow-motion!! Gutless, stupid and corrupt = SEC officials. It was a close call, of course--but you could clearly see one toe in bounds, and I think two--and they didn't have the guts to make the call...

SEC officials have been notorious for years for bad late-game calls on interference and holding. You can't let holding go all game and then call it in a crucial late-game situation--either call it during the game or not at all. They've done that for years.

does the replay guy in the booth have ANYTHING to do with the officiating crew that's on the field? it's not the refs on the field that make the calls on replays.

Have the guys on Around The Horn touched on this subject? I would like to know what W. Paige and Jay Marrioti have to say.

These refs deserve to be banned from the game for the rest of their lives. These are 18-23 year olds who have busted their ass to be where they are and their hard work falls short because of some morons

There are many millions of dollars at stake here and I'm sure that the 18-23 year olds who have busted their asses are not considered any more than some sweat shop laborer in Malaysia. Don't think when that much money is involved that the integrity of the game is sacrosanct.

Slive should suspend himself.

You know that all this bad pub is just killing those guys down in Bama at the SEC headquarters.

You know what is funny is that ESPN is allowing PTI to completely destroy the SEC. Kind of like getting high on your own supply if you follow me.

You know he hates the SEC always has. He is a big 10 guy and when ever he can stick it to the league he will. Keep in mind this is the same moron that slammed coach LK over and over. If this idiot had his way the championship game would be between Boise and Northwestern. I hate Bama as much as the next guy but I don't want these liberal idiots attacking the SEC. I hope they both have marvelous records so when we beat them both next year it will be so much sweeter.
i've heard wilbon saying he liked the talk from kiffin many times

Yeah, liberal idiots sure, but we have all seen what happens when conservatives are in power with control over the money supply. Lets just say stuff happens. Ironic that as you mention Wilbon attacking the SEC, the very same theme is repeating itself. The conservative SEC and Mike Slive, are using their power to manipulate the system to insure their lucrative Bama vs. Florida matchup, and the guarantee that one of those teams plays in the BCS title game for 17 Million dollars. Wilbon might be a liberal yankee but atleast he (like many others) strives for fairness and decency.

agreed tennessee had 9 peniltys or something like that bama had one and i watched the game a total of 4 times and its horrid watching refs call games and miss so many sure calls against the tide but they werent sure things they were no calls because they want alabama and flordia in sec tital game assuring one sec team wins ncaa championship game which would be great if they didnt have to cheat to win i love the sec but the vols are in my blood and i hate seeing them get craped on by officials like they do

Doesn't matter who is what. Slive is a JOKE as a commissioner.....and not just because of his goon squads. In my book, you tell a man that makes and/or controls millions that he can't speak his mind and you've crossed a fascist line

The replay where they called Julio Jones as making the reception when he was clearly out-of-bounds during the Tennessee game was the play that really sparked my attention. That play made it a 3 and inches instead of a 3rd and 9.

The biggest problem I have, and what truly makes me feel that something is up, is that these terrible calls are coming from replay. I can see a mistake during live action but the replay screw-ups are head scratchers. Everyone who saw the replay knows the Peterson had two feet in (you could almost argue three). That call was terrible and everyone who watched the game knows it.

It is principle, not personality. The SEC will be tainted this year because of the officiating. If it had been one call here and there scattered across all games and all teams, that is normal. It has been almost every darn week, in big games, at critical moments, on national TV, during prime time, involving Florida and/or Alabama. In two or more AL and FL games critical calls or missed calls have been made, that most likely changed the outcome of the games. It is not the SEC that Slive has to worry about at this point. FL or AL will most likely play in the NC game. If one of them wins, the win will be tainted in the eyes of the nation. Most of the commentators are not fans of the SEC and the situation has given them the bone that they needed. Unfortunately, it may be justified this year. Neither FL or AL are truly NC caliber and neither would be undefeated by now if the officiating had been competent. The smoke around this will break into a raging fire before this season is over and Slive, AL, and or FL are going to look like azzes. :moon2:

Rogers Redding (AKA Buford T. Justice)and Slive work hard to make sure the conference has the best officials possible... Now ESPN you owe an additional $30,000 to the SEC for questioning the integrity of it's officials! Wilbon should know the actions and statements constitute public criticism of officials, contrary to the provisions of Bylaw 10.5.4 of the Southeastern Conference Manual, which reads, “coaches, players and support personnel (this includes people who work for a company that pays ME/US a boatload of money) shall refrain from all public criticism of officials.” It is your responsibility as a coach (or reporter who works for a company who pays ME/US a boatload of money) to comply with the policies of the Southeastern Conference and to know the football playing rules.

As a result of your comments, I’m sending you this letter of reprimand. This reprimand will be made public. And send us more money for talking bad about how our replay officials don't know the rules of the game and how we miss calls at key points of the game!

Look, this is worse than point shaving that Slive and the SEC has been orchestrating on behalf of Bama and UF. To heck with the NCAA investigating, the FBI needs to be investigating and somebody ought to be doing time at Leavenworth.

I actually make two rhetorical and bombastic statements.

I'm not an English major, but I can't see as how either one of those two sentences could be construed as being anything other than questions. The first one is blatantly borne of rhetoric, but the second one is more iffy and could be read as either rhetorical or direct.

And this has "what" to do with Tennessee football? Rhetorical or direct...YOU make the call...

The best solution to this is to have no more referees employed by conferences. That money could easily be pooled with the NCAA to hire refs that are not affiliated with any conference and let the NCAA manage who goes where and when. That is actually not a great idea, but the SEC officiating has been so bad that it seems necessary.
