Tennessee won't fire Fulmer | www.tennessean.com | The Tennessean

Somewhere along the lines. Our university put winning (meaningful)football games on the bottom of their priority list.

Isn't that where it OUGHT to be? Graduation rate, academics, civic involvement and a HOST of other considerations should all be ranked higher on the priority list than athletics. Good lord. I understand wanting to win, but implying that a university should be judged by its football team's performance is a little silly to me. I would HOPE that UT is a university first, an entertainment venue somewhere close to last. Just my opinion, which is worth what you pay for it. :hi:

I don't think his assesment is accurate. The people who will do this are not stupid. They can't ignore what is unfolding right now.

Oh crap, let me reword that so everyone won't take it so literally.

Lets hope so. I mean whats it going to take. Its about as bad now as its ever been. Still people seem to think phil can do as he pleases, when he pleases. Its just sad. I never thought i would see it come to this. But here we are.

Hymans, during his 15 minutes spot on 104.5 this morning disagreed with Climer's article and stated that he has had several conversations with key UT boosters that have told him 6-6 will not keep Fulmer around.

Climer may be just playing on the stubborness and arrogance the UTAD has shown in the past, regarding the ousting of one phillip fulmer.

To some, Fulmer's situation is like the declining stock market. Do you make a change or hang on with your portfolio and hope things will improve?

But one thing to remember, that old government-required caveat "past performance is not an indicator of future success". How true in our situation.

Fulmer did a very good job of making sanders the scapegoat in 05. I could be wrong but I dont see another scapegoat this year. Hamilton and co are stubborn that much is true. If climers comments turn out to be true things are going to get much worse.

Hamilton may find himself unemployeed because of it.

I don't agree with Climer either. Too much is at stake to let this go on, and I believe (at least hope) that Hamilton realizes this.

Let's look at where they put their money. How much do they pay Fulmer, Pearl, and Summit relative to what they pay Petersen?

I do think Hyams is doing some pot stirring. The sentiment on most every Nashville sports outlet has been anti-Fulmer for a few weeks now. Just a way to get people to respond to his blog.

I hope so too. Somehow I have a feeling we will win one we shouldnt (maybe Georgia). Hamilton and co will hang on to that one and give Fulmer another year.

I think it will take more than just beating GA at this point. What if we turn around and lose to Bama, Miss St., SC, etc?

I agree with you. I think it should take more than just beating georiga. What should happen and what does happen are often two different things. I could be wrong but it seem the powers that be are looking for an excuse any excuse to keep fulmer around. Winning against a highly ranked team such as Georgia or Bama might just be that excuse.
I hope not. I hope they see what is going on in UT football.
I just would not be surprised if they kept fulmer on.

Thats because they would look like absolute fools for sigining phil to that stupid azz contract. They're fools anyway. But they would like to keep the wool pulled over some peoples eyes a bit longer.
