Hate rumors, but here's one from my brother...who has lived in Knoxville all his life, and has close ties to a direct descendant of a major booster (sorry, that's the best I can do without betraying confidence).

Lose to Bama..and/or a 7-loss season, and Fulmer is out. Period.

I've held this close since after the UF game, until rex made his post.

The boosters are hoping Fulmer will take a buyout, and ride off into the sunset with his dignity, and pension, intact.

If not, then it gets ugly.

The money will win.

We're gonna lose to Bama, so I consider it a done deal. The only question is whether it's honorable, or ugly.

It's up to Phil.

Oh...we beat MSU by 14.

Climer is a jerk!

With 6 games left we have to win 4 to get to 6-6 which I still think would get Fulmer out. Bamma is a loss which leaves us with 5 games to win 4. I don't see us beating everyone left on our schedule so I think 6-6 is the best record we will possibly have.

Here are a couple of quotes from the Hamilton article:

How can anyone that keeps saying if we go 6-6 or 7-5 Fulmer is safe,where do we get 6 not to mention 7 wins,sorry i just don't see it!!

I was listening to the radio on the way home and the guy (don't know the name) said Fulmer is putting a lot of his hopes on this draft class. If we can pull one or two more 5* players we would likely be looking at a 6 or 7 rated class, he seemed to think that the buyout was going to be too costly.

Aside for Alabama the schedule just isnt that tough. You have MSU, Wyoming,Vandy,Ky and SC. I am not saying we will win all those games. However I wouldnt consider those teams especially tough.

I dont think Tennessee will come after Johnson. Vandy really wants to keep him. They have said as much since his name has come up in names for the next clemson HC.
