Clear slant by espn towards ut

Tennessee is expected by most media outlets to finish third in the East. That's mediocre.
Oh I'm well aware of where we are picked. Heck, I like that, but we were picked there last year too and won the east. Not saying that as information (I know we all know that), just saying that if the national media, opponents, or even fans feel that we have been relegated to a ho-hum team, then they better have their chinstraps snapped. We WILL shock some people this year. Besides, this started because of VMB's two posts back to back that made me, and at least one other poster wonder what he meant.....that's all.

Maybe you watched something different, but when they were talking to Matt Stafford and showed UGA's tuff schedule games they showed UT on there.

Yeah they showed it and they talked about every other game they had to play on their tough schedule but did not say a word about the team that beat the brakes off them last year????

When CPF makes 4 million a year and vastly underachieves, he'll be a hot topic.
If..... IF,... not WHEN. Come on guys, I've been as hard on CPF as anyone, but he seems to have made some changes and amassed the RIGHT kind of athlete to be very surprising this year. I'm expecting great things. BTW, VMB said what I thought and he has since elaborated.......very well I might add.

i did mean relegated. I shouldn't be allowed to talk or type within my first hour of waking up. But the point remains. Tennessee is a team with a large fanbase that typically gives ESPN good ratings. That being said, we still are a mediocre SEC East team according the overwhelming majority of media predictions. I didn't watch, but if they mentioned the USCe game amongst Georgia's foes during their title run attempt, it's most likely because USCe-UGA is a bigger rivalry than UT-UGA.

I will also add that I still expect to really surprise some people this year.
Yeah baby!!!:toast:

They had a good interview with Fulmer on Tuesday during SportsCenter to pump up the game on Monday but I guess they had to do that since it's on their network.

It sounds like we are pretty much all "in the same boat". Hightened excitment about a possible HUGE upside, but conditioned, in crude pavlovian fashion, to expect something otherwise. Man, I'm sure glad it's here (almost)

We haven't finished 3rd. That's a prediction. Last time we were picked to finish 3rd where did we finish?

Actually this ESPN writer picked UT, or UGA, to win the East and play LSU for the Championship. Actually we tied UGA for the East, but won on the tiebreaker, so I guess he was pretty close. About half of his prognostications in this article came true, so I guess that's a pretty fair accuracy rate for guessing.

Peering into the crystal ball revealed the following five predictions for the 2007 SEC season:

1. Florida won't repeat as national champion (or SEC East champion)
The defending national champion just has too many holes to fill on defense. Replacing the heart of the defense -- tackles Ray McDonald and Joe Cohen, middle linebacker Brandon Siler and free safety Reggie Nelson -- will be too difficult for co-coordinators Greg Mattison and Charlie Strong to overcome. The Gators take a step back in 2007, before jumping forward in a big way in 2008 and 2009.
2. LSU will play USC in the BCS championship game
Tigers coach Les Miles will get his wish with a date against the Trojans in the Jan. 7 BCS National Championship Game in the Louisiana Superdome. After USC easily defeats the Tigers in front of LSU's home crowd, Miles will leave to become head coach at Michigan, replacing Lloyd Carr, who will retire after winning the Rose Bowl (and, of course, losing to Ohio State).
3. Nick Saban loses to LSU (but beats Auburn)
Saban's first season at Alabama will be a successful one, but the Crimson Tide won't come close to catching LSU in the SEC West. Alabama will lose twice in September and to LSU in November, but Saban will win the two games that matter most to Crimson Tide fans -- against Tennessee and Auburn.

4. The Egg Bowl loser gets poached
Ole Miss and Mississippi State will continue to struggle, and both will have losing records going into the Nov. 23 Egg Bowl in Starkville, Miss. Rebels coach Ed Orgeron and Bulldogs coach Sly Croom will be under intense pressure, but the winner of the game will buy himself another year. The loser gets a pink slip.

5. The SEC East champion will have two losses
Only three times in the last 15 years has the SEC East champion had more than one loss. That number should increase. Kentucky and Vanderbilt will each upset at least one of the other four teams in the division -- and possibly more -- causing havoc in the East. LSU will defeat either Georgia or Tennessee in the SEC championship game in the Georgia Dome, possibly opening the door for Arkansas to receive a BCS at-large berth, along with the unbeaten Tigers.

did you guys hear woody paige just blow tennessee off saying "they aren't that good this year" as he was singing Florida and Tebow's praises?

I heard it, he is suppose to be reppin us and he just jumps on the band wagon. Hes prolly got a large head since his graduation and doesnt remember where he came from. I bet he couldnt name three players on the team this year so im not too worried about his thoughts.

He's usually pro-Vols. His comment was so short and (in his mind) factual that it was out of character for him.

Really? ive never heard him talk too much about TN anything to be honest, and i see ATH almost every day at work.

he usually has something UT sitting behind him when he talks. I don't watch it too often but even my g/f has asked me about it

I saw that today and had to rewind my DVR. I just kept saying "that son of a..." over and over again and louder and louder the more I repeated it. I've scratched him off of my list of people that I like in life.

whaaat? no way man. the only thing he keeps around is a blackboard with funny saying on it. maybe in bball season he had UT stuff in the picture, but even then he was all over Memphis

Sure he does. He has a little Smokey and some other stuff.

Well....maybe not usually but on a regular basis.

We can change all perceptions after we beat Florida

I just watched the replay of MI beating them in the bowl game
